Defense Perspective

At this time last year the starting unit was a seasoned group that included Branch, Thompson, Moore and Sensabaugh. They have been replaced by Crawford, Williams, Jarrett and Robinson. All of these new starters who are young with next to no game experience may, and hopefully will, have huge upsides as their college careers progress.
Many people consider the defense thus far to be similar to or slightly better than last year. In either case, BV would have to be considered to be ahead of the logical expectations that should have existed. Ultimately, his first year will be judged on how the group progresses throughout the season. But for two weeks into the season, for this new group to be at a performance level at least on par with last year has to be considered a significant accomplishment by BV.
The end of the season will speak for itself, but the results to this point need to be considered rather impressive.
