I Think the Reality is That it’s Almost Impossible to Tell

Dec 21, 2019, 8:31 PM

After the first few weeks of the season, there really aren’t any comparative data points. The conferences don’t play each other after that to give us a legitimate bench mark of how Clemson and OSU will match up. Without those real comparison points, the statistics have limited value. Much of the debate really comes down to the eye test and fan passion for their respective teams.

There is a tendency to reference past history. That leads pro-Clemson supporters to argue that their team speed is superior and that will be the edge. Yes, that has been the case in past years. But Big10 coaches haven’t been ignorant of this, and have been recruiting faster athletes, not just at the skill positions. What remains to be seen is whether they have truly remedied this and if they have truly closed that gap.

Believe the first half will be close. But with our depth we wear them down in the second half. Tigers by 17 or more! Go Tigers!!!

the same opponents.

Not to mention excluding data for 3rd and 4th string.

Don’t think they are implying causation or using a p value. It’s just a way of weighting certain things as they arbitrarily see fit that pops out another number they can used as a “metric”
