Deer ACC Baseball Tourney Goobers,

May 20, 2017, 7:49 PM

Can we PLEASE just go back to the standard double-elimination format? You know... the format we use for the baseball championship postseason?

Looking at the "projected" ACC Group draws looks like dern soccer crap. Are we in the "Group of Death?!?!?" What's that? We play Argentina in our second match on the 0-2 pitch?

Enough. Just go back to what makes sense and what everyone knows, you idjits!

This year it is in Louisville.

You know Mike Martin used to complain Clemson got an unfair advantage when it was in Greenville, but he seems just fine with Durham or Louisville (I guess he's too dumb to realize there are ACC schools in those cities).

Actually we have a decent draw. No UNCheat or Louisville. Beat UVA earlier this year. Need our bullpen to close out. God bless them but that has hurt us. Either way go tigers

Bottom line: ACC tourney, regionals, supers, cws, you're gonna have to win to advance.

(I think that has been Dabo's mantra and it has worked out pretty good for the fb team...)

Whatever choice(s) you make makes you. Choose wisely.

For a team that lost 9 in a row, we got a good draw.***

Does the first place team in pool even need to play 2 games?

May 21, 2017, 8:17 AM

Couldn't they just let the 2nd and 3rd place teams play. Winner takes on first place to advance?
Someone check me out, but isn't that true?

It seems goofy the way it is set up. For the 2nd or 3rd place to advance they have to win both games... as soon as they lose one, they are out. So in the tourney, one of the games is going to be meaningless...

We play Duke... we win... the Duke/UVa game means nothing.... Duke wins... UVa beats us, they still go... Duke loses again, UVa still must beat us.

We play Duke... we lose... Duke/UVa is to advance; UVa/CU means nothing...

Looks like there could be maybe 4 games that are being played for really no reason... (maybe helps with seeds in Nat'l Tourney?)

They could eliminate an entire day of the tourney... have the 2nd and 3rd place teams all play on Day one... loser goes home... Winner advances to play first place team...

Isn't that correct????
