First time I’ve seen this.
So basically any of us can try to start our own version of IPTAY now?
Can’t imagine this going well.

It’s the same as the garnet trust thing that the chickens started. A way to pool funds for different NIL priorities. It’s a way for the fan that doesn’t have deep pockets to contribute to NIL. I can’t give someone a car, but I may be able to contribute a little bit of cash to the pool.
People on TNet have been complaining that nobody is doing anything for Clemson’s NIL…well, somebody is.

Is it university sanctioned?
Or can anyone buy a domain name, build a website, collect as much as $12,000 each from people, and then be in charge of managing those funds?

They can’t be connected to the University in any way. That’s what the law says, at least.
I would imagine they have been in touch with the NIL people in the athletic department, but don’t think it’s necessary.

They have another one named Carolina Rise, too.
Which is also an oxymoron.

To some it matters a lot. Given the current situation/lack of rules I would not support something I believe to be bad for both athletes and college sports. If I were planning to support it would not be to this particular org

Wow. You sure did a lot of chirping and whining about putting NIL to work for basketball to all of a sudden do a 180 on the whole concept when opportunities present themselves and it's time to put up or shut up.
Carry on, Cobbox.

In response to how does a below average program improve. I offered NIL as an option but never stated I would give money to the effort. You see, some think the only option is to fire the coach but those who follow the sport realize this solution hardly ever works for lesser programs wanting to break through. So my point was to offer alternatives.

NIL collectives are exactly how Texas A&M got a #1 recruiting class. Legally. Some like to say they bought their team. Others say their boosters got together to provide a competitive NIL collective, within the rules put in place. The end result, regardless, was a stellar class.
You hear constantly how Clemson has to step up with NIL or get left behind. How else are we supposed to step up? What other ideas are there?
You may not like the guy that started this but at least someone is making an effort.

1. What has this “stellar class” at Texas A&M done? I’ll give you a clue. A&M is getting a bunch of guys who are already looking around for the next college they will jump to.
2. Are you suggesting we start sending money to any stooge who starts a “NIL collective” website, and we really don’t know where all the money is going? Watch out.

I’ll take kids who want to attend Clemson and play ball for Clemson. I happen to believe our TEAMS will frequently prevail over the other people who appear to be in a frantic race to the bottom.

Clemson’s athletic department is handling it in a reasonable and professional way. So our athletes do have opportunities, and they have help managing the deals that come their way. We saw many Clemson players with deals this past year. It’s just not used as the main focal point for their existence. There’s a difference.

Are half hearted (more symbolism than substance) attempts oriented in creating an appearance more so than anything else for the casuals. It's disappointing to lose position as quickly as it will come, is coming.

I don't know anything about that particular organization, but this whole NIL wild west is likely going to spawn a bunch of independent efforts that exist primarily to skim off top, luring the mindless eager masses of loyal college sports fans to make untold thousands and millions of small-time donations and fill the coffers of what essentially will be fraudulent fronts for the benefit of the organizers.

Who would you trust to run it? This isn’t a trick question to further a point; just curious about who donors would trust. Keep in mind by NCAA guidelines (as worthless as those may be) it can’t be someone affiliated with the university.

making much of a difference.
If we're being honest, local mom 'n pop businesses in Clemson having players do autograph sessions or selling t-shirts with their faces on them isn't going to move the needle very much.
Every school we are recruiting against can offer autograph appearances at Billy Bob's Auto Parts or Lula Mae's Meat 'n Three.
Again, nice idea, but success with NIL is going to require bigger thinking and deeper pockets than this.
I also don't like the fact that people can earmark football but not any other sport. While I agree that football should be the biggest priority, if someone wants to earmark their donation for another sport they should be free to do so.
I won't be donating to this, but wish them the best.
