complete with one of the black House members calling Republicans racists.

Biden also proposing a 39.6% cap gains tax on the same day.

Screw these people and the idiots who voted for them. We can’t coexist any longer.

I'd be very happy to see capital gains taxes increase. It's especially critical for hedge fund managers and others who use the capital gains rate as a way to avoid the rates the rest of us pay on income, but in general I'm in favor of taxing investment income more highly than income people labor for. Having done both--worked for money and watched it appear through investments--I know which one I get more angry at being taxed on. The "it's my money!" reaction is far stronger when it's the money I've spent my working day earning.

Yes hedge fund managers are a huge issue here...

Capital gains tax is supposed to be a break for holding assets longer than a year. Assets not held that long are taxes as ordinary income.

This will affect the lil’ ol’ guy too with their 401k, which Biden also has other plans in the works to destroy as well.

This stuff is so beyond idiotic you can’t even make it up.

It won't hurt the little old guy with their 401(k) unless they're making hedge-fund levels of capital gains on their annual investment profits, which precludes them from being a "little old guy."

Also, Biden is talking about eliminating the step up in cost basis at death. That has existed for as long as I can remember and prevents heirs from having to fire sale assets just to pay taxes as well as having to track down impossible to find cost basis.

If Dems would quit spending money we don't have like drunken sailors and trying to buy votes with handouts, we wouldn't need these tax increases.

Yes, you must be recalling Trump's balanced budget that just went away in January 2021. Darn those Dems!

You make a good point about the benefits of giving a tax break on inherited investments, but on the other hand I really don't care if rich kids don't get to inherit things tax-free. Considering where the estate tax line is currently drawn (approximately eleventy bazillion dollars), we are only talking about stupidly rich people.

Any of y’all ever receive any inheritance and pay capital gains taxes in that?

I’m no hedge fund manager and I lost a lot in that ordeal

Needs to be targeted at “real” capital gains if not already. I haven’t read anything on it

Stepped up cost basis has nothing to do with estate tax or being "stupidly rich." You are crashing and burning and might want to stop now.

Do you think Trump was spending money like a drunk sailor? You are aware of how the deficit did under him, are you not?

We’ve already discussed this numerous times before and how the pandemic impacted all of that. I’m no longer responding to your failed troll posts anymore and just TD’ing instead. Bye.

they will need to confiscate firearms before they can get any of these

however, they are doing a pretty good job robbing the treasury without any pushback
