Day 4 of the Covid: Better and worse.

Dec 17, 2022, 10:57 AM

My balance has gotten slightly better, and the headache is not quite as bad. BUTT, the sore throat is even worse. It literally hurts, a LOT, to swallow during the night. Once up and around, and on my pain meds, it gets better for about six hours, then the cycle repeats.

If the sore throat has not gotten better by Monday, I will be lobbying my PCP to come out to my car at their office, and swab my throat with the old timey Silver Nitrate. It's time to get sirius.

I feel your pain. I was diagnosed with flu type A a week and 1/2 ago and still not fully back. Sore throat was the worst. Try Afrin if you’re breathing through your mouth at night and warm salt water gargle. Also alternating Tylenol and Advil is best for pain.

Good advice but just be careful with the Motrin

Dec 17, 2022, 8:32 PM

It was previously recommended to avoid Motrin with COVID. It has to do with how it worsens the respiratory symptoms. But great ideas in general

Thought I had a cold...but I do remember I would just run out of energy about the 19th time up the steps at Wren
I kept telling my buddies I just didn't have any energy...It took a good month..maybe 6 weeks before I was back....KEEP MOVING!

I have been keeping up with the latest vaccines. And I mask when I get in a large group.

I feel your pain. We had to run the steps during our "voluntary" winter practices at Clemson. Sometimes so cold , but it sure keeps you in shape. Really, compared to that, Spring practice wasn't too bad.

Wrap a towel around your throat when you sleep. It really helps!

Better wrap it yourself. If I got Broomhilda to wrap mine, y'all might read my obituary.

Hoping you get over this quickly. It's drug on too long to suit you, I'm sure, but that stuff is nasty. I had this past winter, and it was no fun. Both my wife, Broomhilda, and I had it. Her case was milder, but mine lasted at least a week. Both of us have had all shots and boosters, but we still got it. Thankful we did get through it. Best to you, and get well soon. We need you rooting full strength for our Tigers!

I got it back in June. It then turned into Covid Pneumonia. I could not lie down on my back at all. When I tried one time, my O2 stats dropped to 80%. I sat back up and it recovered to 96%. I had to sleep in a recliner for about 2 weeks. It took me about a month to recover and even then when I bent over to pick something up, I would almost blackout. As for the throat, mine hurt so bad it was difficult for me to even sip water. I lived on apple sauce and sherbert ice cream. The best remedies for my throat were Chlorasecptic Max and VapoCool with 15mg of Benzocaine and 20mg of Menthol. A week's worth of Prednisone, and many more Tylenol and Advil later, I eventually got better. Hope the same for you.

I'm hanging in there. Whole family has it now, our house

Dec 17, 2022, 8:11 PM

is like a 1918 Flu ward. Wife is mostly over it, and youngest son, who is healthy as a horse, seems to have beaten it mostly without meds in only a couple of days. Oldest son and myself are faring the worst. I am gonna take an extra evening dose of my Little Friends tonight, and hope that will ease the pain of this sore throat enough to sleep. And that's gonna happen, not real far from right now.

:(

Hang in there 76 and take care of yourself!

I had the CoVid in September and it took me about 2 1/2-3 weeks to feel normal again. I got worse at night, laying in bed with coughing and sore throat. When that finally went away, then I couldn’t smell or taste for a couple of days.

For the sore throat, try my mom’s (think Granny Clampett) home remedy. Gargle with hot salt water. As hot and as salty as you can stand it.
