Dave Clawson and VT.

I know absolutely nothing about what Clawson or VT are thinking. My prognostication about who winds up where is horrible.
But, that doesn't stop me from having fun trying to figure things out.
Clawson to VT? Sure seems to me like he is the most logical candidate for the job. If you can win at Wake, why can't you win at VT? VT can afford him. (No reason to go after an elephant.) He has recruiting history in the ACC, including Virginia. He's experienced, but young enough to have a nice career at VT. He, however he does it, knows how to score points (which fans like).
Who else out there could check as many boxes off at VT as Clawson can?

I'm not saying this is wrong, because honestly, I have no real clue, but I do know this isn't the way Babcock goes about a coaching search. Fuente was hired before anyone knew VT was even after him. So was Mike Young on the basketball side, and both coaching vacancies were known about well ahead of the hire, just like this one. If Clawson is his real target, I'd be real surprised. If for no other reason than Clawson is going to have to address this before their game with you guys this weekend whether its true or not.
I believe this is folks throwing spitballs at the wall hoping something will stick. And as bret stated, it is a logical assumption given the proximities. I'm calling this a guess and nothing more.

and tell them that according to your source, Luke Fickell, Steve Sarkisian, or Lane Kiffin has reached-out directly to VT expressing interest in the job, they will absolutely print it.

VT is a football school. They have played a soft schedule for 20 years.
Frank Beamer was almost our Clemson coach. He did a great job at VT, hard for the next guy to keep the natives there happy. With Beamer gone Virginia has been getting some of the local stars that would have gone to VT.
For over 30 years have had a running bet of a case of Guinness anytime we play with a VT grad who is also a grad of Wake law school. He is sad. It will be hard for VT to return to the glory days.
It is a great place to watch a game.
I believe they will go after a top name and not a younger guy. I don't see Clawson ever leaving Wake. The transfer portal can help Wake more than most.
