Dabo Swinney spot in Sporting News 2023 coach rankings

Sporting News kept its Top 3 intact from last season with Dabo Swinney third behind Alabama's Nick Saban and Georgia's Kirby Smart:

Lowdown: Swinney slander is increasing given the Tigers have missed the College Football Playoff the last two seasons and had their 40-game home winning streak snapped. Clemson did win an ACC championship last season, and the Tigers are 31-8 the last three seasons and 73-7 in ACC play since 2014. Swinney also is a member of the two-time national championship club. The rest of the coaches in the top 10 have combined for one national championship.

UNC's Mack Brown is 12th, Pitt's Pat Narduzzi is 17th, NC State's Dave Doeren is 22nd and FSU's Mike Norvell is 24th.

How can they say "the Saban - Smart debates rages on"?

Kirby is coaching in an era where school no longer matters, drugs barely matter, and money flows freely.

Heck, if Saban had come up in that era, he would have won every National Championship played, and probably a Super Bowl or two to boot. It is LOL ridiculous to compare Smart to Saban.

Not sure how much money would have mattered during that run. By that logic, shouldnt he be winning them all now? I do agree though, Kirby getting WAY too much credit for his actual coaching acumen.

man these rankings are a joke. The type of program that is rewarded here is sickening.

They should base one of graduation, arrests, grades and winning with integrity and see where Dabo finishes
