DABO is the reason...........

for all the positives that has happened over the past 10 years or so at Clemson. Look at the campus, the improvements, the enrollment, the academic and athletic successes, all this started when TDP promoted a young, unproven WR coach from Pelham, AL to lead this program.

Like it or not, football is the most unifying social event in the South on any given Sat in the fall. Clemson fans dont see black or white, they only see orange and purple. Is there a more loved player than DW4 or Christian Wilkins? What you see at the "PAW" after games in DV is incredible. The gathering, the love - I stay after the games and marvel at what I see below me and understand that this doesnt happen in very many places. Clemson is special.

Is Dabo perfect? Of course not but he is the perfect ambassador for what is good about people and what they could be if they give love and faith a chance. His story is remarkable and through it all he has remained humble and kind and his given so much back to the community. If you ever been to an ALL IN BALL, you will understand.

There is a reason that his staff, which is a very diverse staff, has, for the most part, remained together. They are good men just like he is and they get it and they live it. Now understand, not all young men can play at Clemson, as the message of love and faith does not resonate for all and that's fine. If they are talented enough, they will get opportunities elsewhere.

All this being said, we have to understand that there are many "haters" out there who don't want to see Dabo or Clemson succeed. This faith based program doesnt fit their narrative and thats fine. That is also their right but let's realize what's going on and take it for what it is worth. Many of those exist merely to instigate drama and turn attention to themselves. It's always been that way but social media magnifies the effect.

Bottom line, Dabo Swinney is the epitome of who I would want to mentor my son or daughter and he has nothing to prove to me. He has already proven it by his actions and where he is in life. Could he speak out more forcefully on racial injustice? Sure, but he's not the President or a community activist, he is a football coach and a great one. Right now, you have athletic depts putting out canned statements, trying to be empathetic and thats fine for them but, as he has always done, Dabo will deliver when it is time and it will be powerful..
