Dabo has been in this situation before. And he did

Oct 3, 2021, 9:27 AM

what he needed to do regarding staff firing and hiring.

I guess the real question now is ... is he still hungry enough to do it again?

He seems to be a very honorable and loyal guy, but back when his job was on the line, he made some really tough strong decisions regarding his assistants.

Now he appears to be hesitant. Sure he’s frustrated, but he doesn’t appear particularly hungry. Not like he was after that Music City Bowl loss.

He’s got all the money he could spend in several lifetimes, so his motivation will have to be something else.

Hopefully it will be pride and maintaining/building his legacy at Clemson.

Clemson owes a Dabo a lot, but Dabo owes Clemson just as much or more.

This will be a big off season for Dabo and the future of the program.

I think he’s still hungry.

The hunger now is going to be different than it was the first time though. Then, it was about the thrill of being a head coach and proving that he belonged. It was about building a championship team. Now, it’s less about proving himself and more about his competitive drive and desire to win.

Dabo has bee described as one of the most competitive people on earth. It’s been said that he would fight you tooth and nails over a tiddlywink game.

I absolutely believe he is highly competitive. That will

go a long way in helping him overcome some of the challenges he’s facing regarding (perhaps misplaced) loyalty.

As a young head coach, he made Saban-like staff decisions.

But he has evolved into the “Anti-Saban” ...

Somewhere in between would help in the future.

Dabo's legacy might also be important.

Streeter and Grisham and the OLine coach need to go yesterday. The QB is a mess and as many have said it's likely more mental than physical at this point. The wr's are NEVER open and drop it half the time they are. I actually would not fire TE yet, but I'd demand he get more creative. That being said it wouldn't break my heart if TE was offered a HC job this offseason, although based off his performance I don't know how he would be

Why does he appear hesitant? No way

Oct 3, 2021, 10:25 AM

will he do something moronic like fire someone mid-season.

He'll look at the whole year in January.

Nobody said a word about mid-season Joe ... you need to

Particularly the last sentence.

I read it all. Just didn't get the "appears

hesitant" part.

Oh, okay. I understand then ...

Oct 3, 2021, 11:36 AM

I suppose I meant that he’s hung with some guys way longer already than a guy like Saban would have. That’s not necessarily bad, but it does imply a certain hesitation over the last off-season.

I stand by my last sentence though.

It will not be a long off season. Dabo will have his

staff replacements in no later than mid January. That allows for the entire staff to pull together before Spring practice begins.

I agree. Things will happen quickly if they happen at all.

Those Staff Decisions Were

easy then and easy now. Dabo has different priorities in the present compared to the earlier time frame you referenced.
