The need was last year. This year there are options. Dabo is adjusting. Going forward there will be bigger recruiting classes and one or two key transfers added in. The national media types will be looking like idiots again.

I think DJ will be much improved vs last season. Something was up with him last year. How he played against Notre Dame the previous season you know he has talent. Our OL was bad last season. If we get better OL play DJ will be much better

Dabo played the portal perfectly regarding the QB position

Feb 20, 2022, 9:13 PM

Which guy who failed at his last school and who was looking to be an immediate starter at his next stop did Dabo miss out on?

Geez ... Dabo signed the number one high school QB in the nation. Why would Dabo want to appear to be looking for a better player through the portal? What does that say to Klubnik?

There was nobody out there who would come to Clemson when we obviously had the QB of our future coming in January.

I think Dabo did exactly what he needed to do via the portal by bringing in Hunter Johnson ... a guy who has skills and experience, but who no longer has a craving for being the starter.

I agree. We definite;y don't need to find another QB in the portal.

I agree with the statements of your posts. No need to make it look like Dabo did what he had to with Hunter J. HJ contacted Dabo for a job. Dabo had no intention of bringing in a QB.

While I disagree with the original article in regards to a QB, the premise that we need to adapt is true.

No doubt. Dabo merely saw a good opportunity and took it.

As it happened, the absolutely perfect “depth” QB came knocking at Dabo’s door.

Good things happen to good people.

Down the road, unfortunately you are also correct.

Dabo will have to find ways to adapt to the new realities. It’s going to be a nasty game. I hope he can do it with integrity. Otherwise, I fear Dabo will kiss coaching goodbye.

Another spin by a writer who probably never watched a game or looked at depth charts to find out how many players we had out each game. DJ got a year's worth experience and will be just fine and everyone will be happy.

Re: Dabo, DJ, and Transfer Portal ... this from ACC writer??

Feb 20, 2022, 11:11 PM

Hi CUdude98, thanks for posting the article from (what is it called, ACC Magazine?). I'm a sucker for reading anything about Clemson football.

HOWEVER, for a "ACC focused" writer, this guy's knowledge of Clemson football is akin to a 2nd grade kid's understanding of advanced mathematics.

If the writer had been for one of the not-so-good-any-more national publications such as Sports Illustrated, then his limited knowledge and 2nd grader's analysis would be understandable.

But with Clemson being the 800 pound gorilla of ACC football, why on earth did the magazine have its junior flunky do the article on Clemson football? Who the heck are the editors of this publication?

Gheezh!

What a dumb article. There are options this year and one of those is a QB brought in using the portal
