Dabo and Alabama

Jan 5, 2016, 8:01 AM

IF Nick Saban leaves Alabama ... what are the chances that Dabo leaves to take his place??

I have posted before ... but that is irrelevant at this time. There is a lot of talk about Dabo leaving and I wanted to see what the majority of Tiger nation felt about this topic. I believe its an honest question.

Re: Dabo and Alabama

To be fair, this crossed my mind this past weekend. I have always worried about Chad Morris leaving or Brent Venables leaving, but it slipped my mind about Dabo and his connection to Alabama. I have confidence that Dabo would stay because he wouldn't want to leave what he has built and he is just a loyal person in general. But if there was a school he would leave Clemson for, I believe it would be Alabama because of his connection to the school. It wouldn't be because of money or prestige. Let's just go through some hypotheticals. What if Dabo beats Saban on Monday and win another championship in the next few years. Then Saban retires. I wouldn't be surprised if Alabama would have Dabo at the top of their candidate list. Now I would say that Dabo is building a legacy at Clemson. If he leaves for Alabama, the best he could realistically do is be their 3rd best coach ever behind Bear Bryant and Nick Saban. Successful coaches love new challenges. Saban left LSU. Meyer left Florida. Harbaugh left Stanford. Hopefully, Dabo will be more like Bobby Bowden or Frank Beamer and stick around for decades. :)
