D LINE depth

Rewatched the game and noticed that we have zero depth on the DL. You could tell the guys were exhausted toward the final quarter Bc we couldn't get to VaTechs qb at all except on the final 3rd down play. I think this maybe the reason for so many late comebacks by different teams. Anyone else noticing this? Where's Huggins, sterlin, and the rest of the talented younger group? Can't soley rely on Wilkins, Lawrence, and Ferrell to play 70+ snaps. We need more bodies.

Agree - the D gets gassed - either physically or mentally

And let teams have relatively quick drives where we get gashed for several plays, forget out to tackle and seemingly quit…or more accurately don't give it 100%

Nobody wanted to tackle their QB. He was bulldozing

everyone. Glad Ferrell stepped up there towards the end. If they scored a TD, he would've easily pounded in the 2 point conversion.

I believe you are spot on. We have supposedly all these studs on the DL. We need to use them.

We get Scott Pagano back for Ohio State. That will help.

Good teams. A la Ohio state

See that they can isolate a quality receiver on a linebacker and have success moving the chains against the CLEMSON Tigers. It happened last year and it happens this year. It will happen in the Fiesta Bowl as well. I'm not sure that the buckeyes have the talent at receiver to make it work but they will definitely try. They will have to have more than one quality receiver because their best guy will be covered by a DB. What kind of depth do they have? I personally am not overly impressed with their signal caller. But what do I know?

We are missing Pagano and Yeargin

Dex and Carlos were getting fatigued in the middle. Both guys have played a lot more snaps with Pagano out. Huggins is pretty good with his pass rush, but still gets worked far too often vs the run. In hindsight, Venables likely would have like to have played Huggins more on obvious passing down to give those other guys a blow without hurting the team. Ideally, I think BV would like to move Wilkins back inside with Pagano out, but at DE he seems to only trust Wilkins, Ferrell, and Bryant with Yeargin out. That doesn't leave us with much at end so Christian has stayed there.

One flaw of the DE is we don't have a true edge rusher Aka sack specialist ala Vic Beasley. BV hasn't really shown that he likes to bring in a specialist on third and long but maybe he will in the future. Perhaps next year LaSamuel Davis or shaq smith could come off the edge on obvi passing downs and bring the heat. That way we can keep the backers in the middle of the field

Do we have the OL backups for one hundred play tempo on offense?

Great question. But ask yourself, when's the last time the offense had to run 100 plays in a game.

I hope the weeks ahead can get Bryant back to what he showed last year and was positioned to do this year before the foot injury.
