Cutting down the nets…..

Watching the ncaa tournament I was thinking through our lack of basketball success….I was born in 72….in my fifty years of life we’ve played in exactly two games where afterwards we could cut down nets….

1- nit championship Cal I believe
2- acc championship against NC

….goodness….hope to see one in my life

In my lifetime the biggest accomplishment mens basketball achieved was winning the regular season conference in 1990.

In that same season I will swear till I die that we were robbed in the national tournament against UConn. George Tate was still touching the ball when the final buzzer sounded. I have spoken.

after beating Duke for the 1990 regular season ACC championship.
I could be wrong, but I seem to have an image of that in my mind.

add a 2nd NIT Championship game to that which was also a loss,that being in the 2006-07 season losing to West Virginia.Thankfully there is always that winning the ACC Regular Season back during the 1989-90 season and the World University Games to keep us from being O'fer I guess you could say.One of these years Clemson will get to enjoy the fun of a championship in the postseason whether it be ACC,NIT or NCAA.The Tigers won't go forever being without some sort of postseason title.

Surely we cut down the nets when Brad Brownell's team won the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (gold for the United States at the World University Games) in Italy.

By the way, Clemson/USA beat Ukraine in the gold medal game. Poor Ukraine can't catch a break.

Sure, no NCAA Championship . . but I was part of net cutting, in Littlejon. It was the Duke game . and I was up the ladder getting the net off. I still have the piece of net :)
