I think we may be the best 3 loss team in the country.

Nov 8, 2021, 1:05 PM

We are the only team who gave UGA, #1 team in the nation, a game with the only difference being a random pick 6.

We should've been up 21-0 on Pitt and likely win the game against a top 25 team. And we lost in double OT to another top 25 team in NC St.

Love how you use the word "random" as if it were a one game thing. Only it was two games.

Get lost dude!

i can promise you no one on Tigernet cares what you think!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

could've lost at least 3-4 more games............

Nov 8, 2021, 1:22 PM

Syracuse, BC, Georgia Tech, and Louisville had good chances to beat us. Be thankful for where we are compared to where we could be.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Could have beaten Georgia, NC State and Pitt too...

Nov 8, 2021, 1:25 PM

See how that works?

It's all a matter of perspective.

We weren't close with Pitt.........

Nov 8, 2021, 1:58 PM

And the Tommy Bowden logic just pisses people off. Nobody buys into that "we were 3 points from being undefeated". We are fortunate to be where we are.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I could agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.***

Good lord, couldn't agree more. What games are these folks watching. Cuse, Tech, BC, and now LV right down to the wire. This is not the Tampa Bay Bucs we have been playing - they are ACC bottom feeders. In recent years we beat these teams by any margin we choose depending on how long the starters played. Fortunate is a the right word. Fortunate that Cunningham hurt his ankle and played on one leg the fourth quarter because we sure couldn't handle him prior to the injury. It's a down year. Put the Kool Aid down and focus on a game plan to beat the Chickens. Go Tigers

Maybe but Wisconsin, Iowa State and Auburn are pretty good too.

Ken Hatfield had a 9-2 season when it was said that we were

Nov 8, 2021, 1:31 PM

the WORST 9-win team in the country. That was probably right.

Sadly, this season reminds me of that year with one major difference.

Most people did not believe Ken Hatfield was a good coach ... and the following year he was 5-6. Then he was fired.

Conversely, most people believe Dabo Swinney is a great coach. They believe that year will very probably be the start of another string of great teams and season.

You don’t think Dabo is a good coach?

Did I say Dabo wasn’t a good coach?

Actually, Coach Hat was a decent on the field Coach. He put zero effort into recruiting and the talent level evaporated down to a D2 level. As an example of his "Coaching Skills" he moved Dexter McCleon from DB to QB for the final regular game against the Chickens in Cola in 93 and ran the option down their throat for a 16-13 victory. I was there and enjoyed it immensely. Can you imagine in todays culture moving a player from defense to QB after a week of preparation? And winning the game? That left us at 8-3 and he resigned after the game. And no question, the program was headed into the dumpster.

What makes a pick 6 "random"?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I love how some people are chalking up the Pitt game

Nov 8, 2021, 1:32 PM

As a “so close to winning” when we were down 27-10 in the 4th

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You do realize...

Nov 8, 2021, 1:40 PM

Clemson missed two wide-a$$ open scoring opportunities in the first quarter that would have put Clemson up at least 21 - 0 and changed the entire complexion of that game. I won't even get into that stupid shuttle pass that effectively gifted Pitt and easy TD.

you could do that "create your own scenario to victory"

Nov 8, 2021, 2:09 PM

in any game.

"Could have won" should be revered for late 4th quarter lead games only

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree. If shipley doesn't recover his own fumble we lose....

Nov 8, 2021, 2:14 PM

to Georgia Tech. But nobody wants to talk about the close wins, only the close losses.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The team definitely dodged some bullets...

Nov 8, 2021, 2:55 PM

but the point is, the team could just as easily be undefeated as they could be 3 - 6 or whatever.

Nov 8, 2021, 2:49 PM

The problem with us is that pick six and scoop score touch downs against us have been regular, not random, the past two years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We've also won 5 games we easily could've lost

Nov 8, 2021, 3:05 PM

And we got outgained and outpossessed badly against both NCST and Pitt and were probably fortunate to be in either game.

If anything I think we're a bit lucky to be 6-3.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's why they plat the game & keep score

Nov 8, 2021, 3:48 PM

6-3, and if we continue to get better each week I look for us to win out.

Go Tigers! Hammer the huskies!

NCState loss was a bad Pass interference call in the end zone when we were leading in the first overtime I see that large ACC official in other games and would like to know his bias against us Really bad call He has to be a Tobacco Road guy

Re: I think we may be the best 3 loss team in the country.

Nov 9, 2021, 12:47 PM

I think you can sum up the 2021 Clemson Tigers by saying they have an elite defense and an offense that started the season very ordinary but is beginning to improve. I don't know if they're the "best" 3-loss team or not, but they are very good.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That old "moral victory" crap isn't worth anymore now than

Nov 9, 2021, 4:42 PM

it was back when Tommy "He's a Good Christian Man" Bowden was the coach. As was said by me and many others, yes, the record could be better, but it could also by the same amount be 1-8. It may have even been Dabo himself who said, "You are what your record says you are."

The sky is not falling. BUTT this kind of whiney rationalization about games we have already lost changes absolutely nothing. Move on, already, and let's pull for the team to win the remaining games, and get the most out of this season that THIS particular group of players is still capable of.

And, I wish the Mods would put a temporary Moratorium on any posts containing the words "Transfer Portal". Some seem to think that is the Be All, End All, Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow.

OUR O-linemen that have entered the portal are probably just as skilled or MORE than any already on there. So, from whence are these Magic Bullet Portal Cures going to come? I hear a lot of complaints on here all the time about nepotism, and Dabo "wasting" scholarships. And yet, you want him to potentially waste MORE on players who have ALREADY struck out one time, or more elsewhere, for whatever reason. Where is the logic in that?
