Riggernet

How do I pick this baywatch up using one lift point (an electric hoist)?

My current thinking is two small chokers both tied in to the hook on the hoist.

Same way your wife would pick up

Please forgive me, @IneligibleUser

No eyelets on the ends?

Nov 29, 2021, 11:16 AM

I think I'd use that handle up front maybe. Is there nothing on the uh...transom?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wonder if you could run a line through the scuppers

Nov 29, 2021, 11:27 AM

I'd worry over time the screws on the handle would pull out of the plastic. Getting the kayak balanced with chokers seems like it might could be a PITA too.

Maybe making a small fixture for the kayak to sit on would be easiest? So you could just slide it on and off without worrying about getting it balanced every time?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd be afraid of running any support lines through the body

Nov 29, 2021, 11:30 AM

A few really hot afternoons and the rotomolded plastic would just conform into whatever position its being pulled in.

I think you're onto something with a supporting frame or something.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought about the supporting frame, but that would mean

Nov 29, 2021, 11:34 AM

I would still have to pick it up off the frame. Ideally I can just lower into the truck and remove a couple straps.

If the seat was bolted down on front and back (it's only bolted by the front) then I could put a bar underneath and latch to both ends....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is there room to back your truck into the garage?

Nov 29, 2021, 11:39 AM

You could lower the frame to truck bed height and slide her on in.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Whoa....yeah, that might be it

Nov 29, 2021, 11:41 AM

If I could get it to slide easily...I'll think on that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you could find some non-swivel locking casters you may

Nov 29, 2021, 11:46 AM

be in business. Guess you wouldn't have to have the brake, but might help hold it in place.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Couldn't the frame just go in the truck? How heavy is it?***

Nov 29, 2021, 11:40 AM [ in reply to I thought about the supporting frame, but that would mean ]

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then what tho? it's 85 lbs

Nov 29, 2021, 12:13 PM

frame might stick out of bed

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How about a cargo net?

Nov 29, 2021, 11:51 AM [ in reply to I thought about the supporting frame, but that would mean ]

Back the truck in the garage, lower the net/boat combo into the truck bed, slide it out of the net into the bed.

Retrieval is the reverse of the removal.

Put the two transom corners in a net "hole". Stick the "bow" in a net hole. Winch it back up and out of the way.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Keep the net elevated with one of these

Nov 29, 2021, 11:37 AM

your ###### through each one nightly. Use lubricant until you soften up the edges (of both kayak and wangdangdoodle).

I have two of those for the ladders in my shop

Nov 29, 2021, 12:37 PM [ in reply to $30 at Home Depot ]

A 10-foot A-Frame ladder in one and an extension ladder of forgotten max length in the other. Neither one is heavy, but neither is "light." Lifting the extension ladder is a chore, but it does the job.

Easy install (literally 6 bolts or sommat).

When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

I guess I shouldn't be suprised at you poors.

The only real answer here is to buy a new 2022 Tundra for the sole purpose of storing and toting that thing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What's the total weight? 80# or so?

Nov 29, 2021, 11:56 AM

Use a couple of "C" shaped 2x4's spaced a few feet apart. Run another between them and use it as your lifting beam.

Still don't have a solution. I guess unistrut would make a good spreader bar so long as it can handle the weight.
