Could We Get the Orange Bowl if FSU Goes to the MNC Game?

Sep 23, 2012, 2:34 PM

If we win out and go 11-1, that would mean the mostly likely Coastal team that is not on probation that can win the Coastal is VT and Miami. I do expect Miami to fade. That would mean VT would have at least 2 more ACC loses to Clemson and FSU and would be a 3-4 overall loss team in the ACCCG. If fact I think the coastal representative will have 3-4 losses on their total schedule.....

Does the Orange Bowl have to take the official ACC runner up or can they pick the next best ACC team?

Possible, but I don't think ND is NC material right now

although, guess it just matters if you win out or not.

ACC team. If FSU plays in the BCS Championship, and we are 11-1, we could play ND in the OB if there isn't a better choice out of the Big East.

As I understand it, if the league champion goes to the BCS Championship, the bowl game gets an at large pick. E.G. Rose taking TCU when Oregon went to the BCS vs. Auburn; Rose taking Texas when USC went to BCS vs. Oklahoma in 2005. There are other examples I'm sure, just a couple off the top of my head.

11-1 Clemson has very good shot at BCS game

without a doubt in my mind. But no, the Orange doesn't have to take the runner-up, just a lot of times the BCS bowl that loses a team takes another from that conference.

10 spots for BCS

Conference champions will take 6 of those spots, but Big 10 isn't getting 2, nor the Big East. SEC probably gets 2 out of Bama, LSU, UGA, SC. Notre Dame in the discussion along with a 2nd team from 2 of Big XII, Pac-12, and ACC if it is Clemson

There also isn't going to be that Boise type team which will

allow an extra BCS conference team to get an at large.
