Everybody should be sad.

When politicians start shutting down businesses because they don't like what other people do there, it's a sad day. Same with smoking ordinances in bars. You don't like smoky bars? Don't go to smoky bars. And the bar scene in 5 Points made 5 Points a destination. You take away the bars, and you shut down 5 Points for good. There are better places (like the Vista) where you can go get a good meal and do some shopping, and not run into drunk college kids.
I stand with the college kids that want a place to engage in public intoxication. This is America for crying out loud!

I had my adventures there between 1990 and 1998 , wouldn't want to relive it but still wouldn't trade it for anything .
Gonna start singing " Memories " .

Good riddance, I never saw anything in five points but lots of drunk punks and a few hot girls 50 dudes were trying to talk to. Plenty of pudgy girls Who would let you buy a drink for them. Can’t get a drink, can’t take a whiz. Bars so crowded you could hardly move, what fun !

I lived on Wheat street just down from 5 points from '92 to '01. Five Points was a good seen back them and you could legally have open containers then. The area has gotten rougher as the neighborhoods around them has slid down. That said, taking bars out of Five Points (bar owners are closing their doors fast now) isn't going to help. No one goes to Five Points to "shop." They are going to be left with a lot of vacant buildings which won't help the property values of the locals. The restaurant scene is in the Vista.
Oh well....not my fight.

not a big fan of the way they are using the food/beverage sales to shut all these doors. I know TTT sells food now but most of the bars in Clemson in my day would have been shutdown based on the law they are using to challenge permits. Someone could do the same in Clemson probably. Question for those that spend a lot of time DT Clemson these days, what bars do you think would have to close if that happens?

Mr. #### is sure changed from his day as editor of "The Tiger". He is so Democrat that he sill become a socialist and have the world do things his way. I am surprised that USCoot students put up with a Clemson alumni cutting in on there areas. He sure did not try to shut down The Study Hall, The Red Carpet, or Scotties while I was there. O yeah, he knew that back then we would have probably thrown him a blanket party.

On the Tiger staff back in the day, Poot was usually described as a flaming a$$(uno). On the other hand, barring the occasional rat riot, there was never anything going on around any of those establishments remotely like what's been happening in Five Points, which was a nice area to just hang out in when I was serving time in the SCar grad school as a pretense while chasing my coot spouse. Maybe it was like Nixon going to China or something. Took a Clemson grad to show the dirtpeckers how to clean up their yard.

Steve Tannehill doesn’t feel too good either. His bar is one of those closed down.
