Coot fans are delusional

Sep 4, 2013, 9:35 AM

Every coot fan I know not only thinks they will beat UGA, but they are discussing the margin of victory. I can' wait for the beatdown come Saturday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

$CU pretty much handed UGa its a$$ last year...

Sep 4, 2013, 9:45 AM

based largely on a 21 point first quarter from which UGa never recovered.

This year I think you will see Gurley and Marshall pound the line and exploit $CU's young and inexperienced LB's.

They were that way when they went 1-21 several years ago. Some things never change. It's best to just ignore them. They are not worthy.

they manhandle the Dqwgs. It will "prove" their theory that it was not Clemson that won, but a poor Ga team that lost.

I don't care what goes on in Columbia.

It's usually not good, corrupt (or both) any way.

I'd rather focus my energy on appreciating what has, and is going on in Clemson. (and ways in which Clemson can still improve IMO)

Sep 4, 2013, 8:08 PM [ in reply to Remember Auburn a few years ago? We beat AU, then the ]

Gamecocks would have beaten Auburn by 20. South Carolina was way better than Auburn that year, garcia just keep giving them the ball.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Had Clemson not fumbled the ball twice on LSU's side,

Sep 4, 2013, 8:31 PM

we would have throttled them as the stats had shown in the Chic-fil-a bowl.

See, excuses can be made about any game to favor your team. The only thing that is important at the end of the day is one of two letters, a W or a L....and the coots received a L for that game.

Re: Had Clemson not fumbled the ball twice on LSU's side,

You are all over it. Really, had any team played to their real ability, they would not have lost to the coots. It really is that simple. The door was left open and they just crawled in - like cockroaches.

proclaimed a rout of whoever they were playing that week. Guess what: they lost most of them. There is a reason that they are called Coots.

Sep 4, 2013, 10:24 AM

saying sit back there and have all day, but give up no more sacks and hurries than we had against them, or relatively close even, ugay wins. with usucs' young lb'ers having to worry about gurly, marshall, and that big fb they got, murrays play-action will kill them, using uga's te's and wr's as easy targets. this being ugay's opener, home field will now be going FOR the dawgs, instead of like what they had against'em in the valley.

There are many things that could turn out differently this week. I think the coots are pretty good, but so is ugay. ugay lost a very close game to a very good football team last weekend, IMO, and we are going to get a lot better before this thing is over, IMO. The coots, on the other hand, looked pretty mediocre against a pretty mediocre UNC team, IMO. Let's let things work out for a while. We all may be surprised.

Agreed. I had one of the coot fans tell me at the dove field on Monday that if UGA couldn't beat us there was no way they could beat them. Would be nice to see what he says if the bull dogs are victorious.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Coot fans are delusional

Sep 4, 2013, 8:17 PM

I think we are better than uga. I think yall helped us by exposing some of the offensive linemen. Yall also beat them up a good bit physically. I can't see any way their OL has a good confident mindset coming out if Saturday. They have a week to work on it but if that OL doesn't get it together it will be a problem for them.

On the other hand, yall hurt us by putting their backs to the wall. If they start 0-2 and 0-1 in the division then a lot of their hopes for the season are almost gone with bama and lsu still to come. Clemson's win has pretty much made this game the biggest on their schedule.

I have no idea what will happen but I like our staff better and think we cause them some matchup problems. Losing mitchell is huge because he is their only real deep threat that scares you. Allows us to play more man coverage which is simpler for the young guys. I think we should win but wouldnt be a bit surprised if we went to athens and lost.

Why do so many tigers seem to think we lose this one? Genuine question.

Re: Coot fans are delusional

Sep 4, 2013, 9:12 PM

I don't think so, but it should be close. Regardless of the outcome, it should not take away from Clemson's win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Coot fans are delusional

Sep 4, 2013, 10:00 PM

I agree. I think UGA is definitely a top 10 team. They just happened tostart off with two other top 10 teams. Plus still have to play some tough games. So their ranking may not end up reflecting how good they are. They are very good though. If we beat them a lot of people will say uga isn't as good as they thought when the truth will be that our schools are just better.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UGA could end up with 4 losses...

Sep 5, 2013, 8:48 AM

and still be better than most teams in the top 25.

Re: Coot fans are delusional

Sep 4, 2013, 9:25 PM

They have always been delusional. In fact, they are the most delusional fan base in the history of college football. To make things worse, 3 out of every 4 threads on the FGF are about how over-rated Clemson is, or about how GA gave us the game, or how our defense is terrible. Even when they are having success against us, they are jealous and obsessed with Clemson. The best comment I have seen though is one on the National Rivals board. One of the many delusional dirtpeckers said, "UNC will end up being a top 25 team and GA will go 5-7 and end the season unranked." Apparently, if the Coots beat you by 17 at home, you must be a good team because you didn't get blown out by the Coots, but if Clemson beats you, you must be a terrible team and you will have a terrible season. I will be pulling for the Dawgs like never before this weekend. It will make listening to sports talk radio much more tolerable over the next couple of weeks.

The talent gap is growing

Sep 4, 2013, 10:09 PM

Our coaches and players are so much better than USuCk's, and our future is so much brighter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The talent gap is growing

Sep 4, 2013, 10:15 PM

At what area on the field or sideline are y'all so much more talented. QB but ours are good enough and WR where we have some unproven talent but yalls corps as a whole is definitely better. Everywhere else is a push or we are better.

If yall are more talented and have the better staff than the last four results make very little sense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The only area I'm concerned about closing the talent gap

Sep 5, 2013, 12:04 AM

is in the trenches. Our O line has played pretty solid. If USC did not have Clowney, the past four years may have been very different. The guy is just that disruptive. It's constant double teams with him, and if he isn't, the odds are pretty good he's going to make a play in the backfield.

Clemson D line finally has a bit of a pulse. We're beginning to show that we are capable of pass rushing, especially with the super athletic Vic Beasley. Our DTs have been tremendous at run stuffing and our LBs have begun to show an aggression/swarming quality I haven't seen for a while. A few years ago, I would have worried about an LB going one on one with a RB b/c of frequently poor tackling with no assistance from other guys. Now our guys wrap up, and if they can't bring them down, other guys are swarming to the ball. That is very nice to see.

Our secondary is still questionable. I'm not sure if it's a talent issue or coaching issue, but it is frustrating seeing our guys play so far off the receivers, especially in short yardage situations. We were without potentially one of our best DBs in Alexander due to a groin injury so it would have been nice to see him get plenty of practice this summer, potentially earn a starting spot and show up for the UGA game. Looks like we may have to wait a while to see him in action.

Overall, I feel like Clemson has some weapons that can definitely cause havoc with USC. However, our coaches MUST do something different with Clowney otherwise it will be the second verse same as the first. Last years game could have been a potential W had we not abandoned the run and utilized quick pass/slants to take Clowney out of the game. Maybe the coaches knew something I didn't...

The beatdown is coming...Th' Dawgs know that if they lose...

Sep 4, 2013, 10:14 PM

They are in Athens and backed into a corner. When that happens a rabid dog will attack for his life.

We'll see it on Saturday, and I will enjoy watching it happen.

Not sure why they are delusional. Coots beat ugay Three in a row and tigers 4 in a row, last years margin was 28 and 10 respectively. My question is where does the tiger offense go next year when morris, tajh and sammy are all gone?
