One of the joys of living across the river in Georgia

Apr 25, 2021, 8:26 PM

Stopped by the Hofbrauhaus in Helen today after a nice hike because it has been too long since I’ve had one of their Hefeweizens. Konig Ludwig for my wife (UGA grad but otherwise converted by DeShaun and me) and Erdinger for myself. I was sporting my “walking around” Tiger Paw cap (not the mowing/hiking cap it replaced, nor the 2015 Gameday hat that is 79-7).
One fellow started in with “y’all don’t have a good record against us”
“No sir, we don’t. Tough when you play 20 more games on the road than at home against a good team”
“Well, Labor Day ain’t gonna be like playing Alabama”
“You’re right, we can both agree on that.”
His buddy smiled and got it, he didn’t. My wife chuckled begrudgingly.
“You just don’t have our history.”
“True. I wonder how your Bulldog Club members feel about your return in investment these past four decades versus IPTAYs?”
Silently walks out the door. His buddy laughs out loud. My wife thanks me for the weissbier and we enjoy watching the Chattahoochee on a beautiful day.
Can’t wait to be back in Death Valley in 4 and a half months!

I was raised in CLemson but for the past 35 years live a few miles from Athens. UGA diehards come in many shapes and sizes and various states of reality.
The 41 years since 1980 natty is the gorilla in the room...they’ve been close but this only makes it worse. I’m sure Kirby is the executive to get them to the promised land. He seems to have trouble recognizing QB talent, as well as developing players to their full potential.
Hopefully, our boys will make a statement in Charlotte Sept 4th! Perhaps some Dawgs will still be incarcerated?!?

Good stuff TigerBone! Married an across the river Dawg myself in Savannah. Wonderful lady - no regrets. I've converted her as well. Tiger Paw flag in front yard on game days. Hope is to have a 2nd home in Greenville or Lake Keowee in the not too distant future. Full-time job keeping those Dawgs in check, and you sound like you have it worked out. 9/04 will only help our cause. Go Tigers!

I live on the Georgia border. I can see Georgia off the porch as I type this. I have UGA friends who are solid folks.

Many UGA folks are fans of Dabo. They hope and believe they will win the game. They don't hate Clemson. Many want to be that.

I was at the last game in Death Valley. We lost, and it was over by half time.
Idiots acted out but not football fans.
If we win or they win a celebration is called for.

Clemson is a big deal to them. They post all that silly SEC is ### crap, but they know how many SEC have fallen to Dabo.

UGA has a great team. They play every year in big games.
They are not yet ready to line up with Clemson.

Often we fanatic Tiger fans dwell on the weak points. UGA has some too.
Clemson will roll over UGA. As the game nears, Vegas will show that.
UGA had incredible talent, but Clemson lines up with an incredible team.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”
