And you really need to commit to shutters or no shutters. It’s like 2 different houses stuck together
That said, it’s straight Joanna, that’s all the rage right now.

Believe me we could have gone way more Joanna. The black skinny windows, skip the shutters, etc. we put the big front porch on it and made it a classic 5,4, and a door, just a more classic look than some of the #magnolia#familyfarmhouse stuff you see these days

they may have the metal on the porches due to the slope

of the roof being too flat for shingles. shingles can't go flatter than 4:12 slope, but in that case put metal on the whole thing.

date your house. 10 years from now we will be able to tell when your house was constructed. Not saying I don't like it, but to me, it's a fad. Just like I can look at the dark siding craftsman houses and tell they were build circa 2008-2015.

are the small planters. You need them on those two garage windows.
We cant do them on the style of house we have now, but we did in Raleigh and they were nice.

What are those trees doing next to the house?
Apr 14, 2022, 9:49 AM

That was a bad idea. I told our builder remove all trees so that if one falls, it won't hit the house.
Of course I have like 10 60 ft pines, 30 feet from the house.

Can't see the trash-burning pit, which I assume is in the back. No chickens running around in the yard. No angle showing outhouse placement.
Really not very farmy at all, in my unquestionable opinion.

it also has mixed roofing, but way more black metal, and dormers that have out-of-scale shed roofs, also metal. All of their black roof, shutters, doors, random trim is extremely glossy black. Looks awefull, but the worst is it's a couple hundred yards from US220, the major north-south 4 lane highway through Botetourt.
Yours needs a dinner bell on a post.

The one before he bangs the charge nurse in the back of his SUV in the parking lot like they did on that one episode of Greys Anatomy I watched 15 years ago.
After 3 kids and a divorce, the OLD doctors house looks like one of these windows in this apartment building.

house in '13. I came out about $86/sqft finished. Included in that is 1100 sqft garage and 70CY of concrete for driveway and parking area.
I don't think that one was built for under $200/sqft.

I also gave him the option to ask for the website so he could see pics of my home.
FYI, I hope everyone on here succeeds and can do what they want with their lives, I did early on like he is doing…I’ve actually built 4 houses in my lifetime cause i was always unsatisfied with what was available.

Sold the house 3 weeks later for $30K more.
But its ok...I only lost $1000 between appraisal and legal fees.

Apr 14, 2022, 12:23 PM

My older son, an architect, helped me modify the roofline and a couple other exterior items. We also made some changes to the floorplan to better utilize space. Turned out great with horizontal siding, board/batten in gables, stone highlights, mix of shingles and metal.

Not in a flood zone per fema maps, don’t have to have extra flood insurance. But having the waccamaw river on one side and ocean 2 miles the other way, certainly not inconceivable it could go underwater
