Construction Science and Management

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not...my son mentioned something about this program the other day and I don't know anything beyond what is on the web-site. Can anyone here tell me anything about the program at Clemson, how does it stack up against other programs, and what job prospects look like after graduation. I found some rankings online, but they appear to be all over the place...so, thought I would go to the source. Thanks!

I graduated with a Masters in CSM in 1999 from Clemson. Program places 100% of the graduates undergrad and Grad in positions. Construction demand is of course cyclical, but educated Project Manager's are in high demand right now.

Getting out of architecture was the best decision I made. It's a long road to be an architect and make real money.

getting your BS in CSM, but make sure you intern, and take that #### seriously.
Getting a Masters seems like an unnecessary expense, unless there's something you want to specialize in.
And cyclical, yeah, that's an understatement. Teach your son good fiscal sense, OP.

Grad with a BS in CSM in 2001. Was ranked #3 in the nation at that time. Great program with many opportunities.

I'm going into my senior year as a CSM student and have enjoyed it, idk about rankings or anything but the department does an extremely well job of preparing students to have a job lined up after graduation. There is some turn over in staff going on right now with a few professors retiring (including the Dept. Head) so I can't tell you how it will be for your son in a few years

I could go on and on! Small department! Dedicated staff!! Son had multiple intern offers and job offers! Presently he is the project engineer building a $53 million high school outside of Winston Salem. He still is on first name basis with his former professors! Ms. Deborah Anthony--the sole advisor for the entire department still sends out job opportunities to 'her boys' on a regular basis. Nick sent her a huge bouquet of flowers on graduation day--that's the kind of relationship that develops in the CSM department.

My neighbors son graduated three years ago. He interned with Holder and they couldn't wait for him to get out of school. He graduated and had a gauranteed job with them. He's living out of a suitcase, but loves it. And, they love him.
Good friends son graduated last year and, again, had a gauranteed job with another AE firm. He's based in Charlotte and is glad he's staying put for a while on a long term project.
My son just bridged into Clemson and is in the CSM program.
I'd say your son is on a good track. He'll have to pay attention to his grades and make sure he works in the CSM field every chance he gets...including internships.
