It's obvious "one and done" has ruined college basketball

They've taken the student out of student-athlete. Players that know they'll get drafted high only have to stay eligible for a semester to get through the spring of their freshman year before declaring for the draft. And Coach K sold his soul and bought into this. When he started in the early 80s with players like Gene Banks and Mike Gminski, he was a real coach. Now he's a John Calipari clone.
I just hope college football doesn't ever get into the "one and done" situation or it'll finish off what the NIL and the portal has started.

but you're right about Gminski who left in '80 just before Krzyzewski started in the fall. But the point was he had players like that for 3 0r 4 years and got to develop them and they got to be college students and athletes for 3 or 4 years instead of 10 months.

It never was.
I've got a masters from Duke and met some of the basketball players who could barely speak English but somehow got a Duke degree.
