When we had “regulation” in college football there was the attempt to give all college teams a somewhat fair shake to compete. This allowed the “App-States” to stroll into “Michigan’s Big-House” and compete/win. I’m a parent that pays for my kids college and it’s honestly like purchasing a 2nd home over a 4 year span (scholarships are tremendous pay IMO). I also understand players should get a evenly distributed “allowance” per week (spending money) but I hate NIL. The QB gets millions while the lineman (grinding in the trenches to protect him) gets zero. Schools are using NIL as a loop-hole to “buy” the best roster. Add the “love-fest” with conference affiliation that ESPN started years ago (SEC) and It has slowly killed the heart of once proud schools like Marshall, App st, Syracuse, etc-etc. College Football has always been a huge passion of mine but the current state just feels dirty. Clemson is a top 5 national football program and I believe the SEC & BIG are both trying to land us as I type this. The coming changes are exciting but I do feel sorry for the teams that will be left to die. It just kinda robs the old joy that college football was all about. Change is coming soon..
If a kid makes money from t-shirt, jersey sales, or stars in a commercial, get him/her the money. I, and most everyone else that dislikes NIL, have problems with collectives that pay for play.
