I live in NC, this is how bizarre politics can get here:
Sep 6, 2017, 5:11 PM

"Candidate for Charlotte mayor puts 'white' among qualifications"
"VOTE FOR ME!" Barnette, 53, wrote on her Facebook page, the Charlotte Observer reported. "REPUBLICAN & SMART, WHITE, TRADITIONAL."
http://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/349431-candidate-for-charlotte-mayor-puts-white-among-qualifications
"During a debate last month, Barnette said she doesn't think the city should "encourage more lower-income people to [come to] Charlotte," according to the Observer. "We should attract higher-income people," she said. She has also called protests "an expression of Democratic behavior.""
(In fairness to Republicans, the NC GOP rebuked this idiot)

She is one of the best bassists though. I loved her work on Moving Pictures, especially "Tom Sawyer." Presto was a really underrated album of hers as well.

What a moron. On the "white" comment alone. Unreal.
On the other comments, is need context. All I hear in Charlotte is that we need high paying jobs. I thought that's what everyone wanted.
And on the protesting thing, are we sure it was capital D, not lowercase d with "democratic behavior"? Makes a difference. Not that it matters. She's already done.

the CLT Democrat platform is essentially:
Sep 7, 2017, 9:11 AM
|
|
1) raise taxes 2) build public transit to poor areas 3) raise taxes again 4) reduce police prescience (and possibly castrate them) 5) keep property values down 6) force middle class kids into private schools 7) raise taxes again 8) sanctuary city

Yep...stick a fork in her. She's way done.
The scary part is she is a local magistrate hearing small cases.

Oh that's not just NC. In Detroit you have a guy who changed his name to mimic an old mayor, his dad, who disowned him. He is using his fathers name to get support. Basically saying I am black and Coleman Young's son. You know, the one that ran the city into the ground.
It half works, but too much progress under Duggan, so he will roll.

Meanwhile in NY

The mayor lol. Although you probably agree with him which is scary.
In comments to interviewer Chris Smith, the mayor dropped his re-election smiley-face to reveal his inner dictator, one who would banish individual rights and constitutional safeguards — all in the name of fairness, as he defines it.
“Our legal system is structured to favor private property,” he said, insisting that “people would like to have the city government be able to determine which building goes where, how high it will be, who gets to live in it, what the rent will be.”
For good measure, he added: “If I had my druthers, the city government would determine every single plot of land, how development would proceed. And there would be very stringent requirements around income levels and rents. That’s a world I’d love to see.”

That kind of thinking could lead to a narcisstic barbie blonde haired 71 year old blow hard who'd say anything to get elected who watches tv all day becoming president.
Never happen in this country.

as Joe Biden pointed out, Obama's central qualification
Sep 7, 2017, 9:08 AM

was that: "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy"
so is race a qualification or not?

He didn't say that was Obama's central qualification.
This is from the source:
Mr. Biden is equally skeptical — albeit in a slightly more backhanded way — about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
But — and the “but” was clearly inevitable — he doubts whether American voters are going to elect “a one-term, a guy who has served for four years in the Senate,” and added: “I don’t recall hearing a word from Barack about a plan or a tactic.” http://observer.com/2007/02/biden-unbound-lays-into-clinton-obama-edwards/

But also it was not a good thing for Joe to say, regardless.

Never mind Swarley, when Doc says it's "too complex" for others to understand that is merely code for "I'm into my 6th Scotch and I'm talking to the little pink elephant floating above my 'puter."
