in the first game of a doubleheader, but are you willing to sacrifice the win to keep Cagle in the game? She is obviously tiring, and getting hit hard in the 7th.

pitcher could easily have been changed as soon as she got in trouble. This one will really hurt, following the previous one. It does not say much about Coach Rittman's confidence in any of his other pitchers, that he would not go to one of them to finish the game for Cagle.
And the worst part, we have to come back today and play this same team again, after gifting them the first game of the series.

I think it's more a case he trusts her most and she wins them a lot more than not.

Say what you want but Cagle isn’t the same pitcher she was a month ago. No way as dominant . Don’t know if innings are starting to catch up to her or what.

Yeah, not sure. We didn't find out until the fall that she suffered all last year. Hopefully not her shoulder again.

I beginning to wonder if the philosophy is that getting Val a complete game is more important than the win. No brainer to pull her after the hit after the first homer.

Yes she did and you know after that 2nd hit, Wednesday had to creep into her mind.
Val is a generational player. We wouldn't even be ranked without her. She's had walkoffs against teams too. I'd say she's a better pressure hitter than she is a pressure pitcher.
This didn't just happen today. She's had problems closing good teams out before. Usually it didn't matter because we were up. I know I'll get TD and crushed for the post but even when she's come in to close games against good teams, it hasn't been easy. She did that the last two years.
We'll probably never know but perhaps Rittman is trying to break that habit. Idk. And I'm not talking about the Furmans, cuse etc. I'm talking strictly top 20 teams.
Btw, we are now 1-6 against top 25 rpi teams this year. (I know, i was shocked too) Only win was our best game, a mid-week game against uga. Our stats have been drastically skewed all year. All we can do is win the next game and then the next etc. But honestly, I'm not sure we'll make it out of a regional and sad to say, don't see us in the acc championship game.
