Coaches are CEOs and CEOs don't make mistakes.....

Apr 1, 2023, 3:24 PM

Lot of negative comments on this board about Dabo saying there's nothing wrong with the football program or Staley's comments after the game last night or Neff's comments about Brownell before the NIT....

These folks are CEOs of major college sports companies. You NEVER hear a CEO say anything negative about his/her company - at least in public. Same for coaches or ADs. Because if they do, the money will slow down. Take Dabo as an example. Why would he say anything but positive things especially right now in the middle of the month when season tickets are on sale? If he did and there are folks on the cusp about spending money on tickets/IPTAY donations, that could sway them to not purchase. It would also be a contradiction to all the promotion IPTAY has done for selling season tickets. Or Neff announcing spending $40 million on a basketball complex. What better way to turn off big donors than to not express total confidence in the coach? Or Staley - her job is not to promote Iowa, it's to make coot women's basketball appear to be the best. That keeps the money rolling in.

Besides, if a coach says negative things about the program or the team, he/she is really talking about themself. And no CEO has ever done that.
