Coach Speak

Oct 16, 2014, 8:35 AM

It got me thinking with all the talk about Cole as starter and the questionable playcalling at times this year how Chad isn't exactly who I thought he was when he first arrived to Clemson.

I can recall thinking how he was the first coach in awhile to really tell it how it was and now it seems he is closer to "it is what it is" (Dabo) or "we do what we do".

I wonder if the rigors of D1 football have started to turn him into a "real" coach after all.

That said, I know BV has more proven talent to work with this year, but I appreciate his perspective on reality more than the other coaches this year. I don't have a problem with Dabo's optimism or with Chad playing it closer to the vest, but I'm thankful for BV.

That is something I can agree with you on due to BV always tells it like it is. I think sometimes you can see he tries not to say somethings but just can't hold back. I appreciate having a coach like that I really think it will help keep the team on a good track. I still believe the offense has to score at least 3 TD's this weekend to keep the game good. I don't think Boston College will score more than 14 but we really don't know until the game is played. These types of offenses can be funny due to I think our D line will destroy BC I just don't think everyone will play where they need to be at all times and give the proverbial 1 to 2 scores. also remember last time we lost to BC it was with a dominant D and a kinda ok Offense.

The rumors of Chad leaving started at the end of year 1.

As I've said many times, he was not ready for a D1 job then and he still isn't ready. Give him two or three more years and he'll make someone a fine HC. At that point Dabo will train another rookie and we can spend several years worrying when that one will leave.

what in your opinion makes chad less likely to be a head coach at a d1 school than dabo was when he was given the hc job here?

Chad isn't leaving this year, they say that every year. I

really expect jeff Scott to take over should the chad leave in a few years, it's my understanding he's been learning all he can from chad morris on the off chance he leaves. But chad morris will not leave while deshaun watson is here. Chads play calling is extremely limited with cole stoudt in just because of how slow his decision making and release is, not to mention his mobility.

or maybe he is doing what his boss(Dabo) has told him to***
