Relax I watched us win 6 games in two years in the 70s

Sep 8, 2021, 3:50 PM

We all want to win every game but when you look at the way Dabo is operating his program and you all know what I mean compared to everyone else’s then I’ll take a loss here and there and be proud of our program Graduation rates no JC or transfers character kids paw journey etc We throw a kid off the team and Georgia goes after him Georgia playing with Covid kids also using JCs and transfers galore Running back White when Dabo would not pay the family went to Georgia Oh boy what happened Same thing that happened with H Walker Look at the thugs that play in the SEC yes even USC jr Can’t have it all Dabo has done well following what should be the model for all NCCA teams but in reality very few

The problem is everyone has been totally spoiled the last few years and it was tons of fun. It still is fun to be a Tiger but anyone who thinks just because we went undefeated once, we will do it every year, is way out in left field.

To my knowledge we have a clean program to be proud of. Maybe $$ would have kept the Nkemdiche types around, but who wants that? This NIL thing will make things different.

The first game I went to was the 75 home opener againt Tulane and Clemson lost ! I can remember in the mid 70s old guys saying how Clemson "used to be good ". I had no idea of how far back in the past they were talking about but being a small kid I remember thinking that Clemson , at least from what these guys were saying , had been a national superpower .Years later when I saw what Clemson had done under Frank Howard , particularly from 48 to 60 , I was impressed .Reality was as good as whatever I thought they had done as a kid .I finally understood what "good " meant . 76 if I remember correctly was predicted to be a good season but things didn't work out .Finally the Tigers got the big pop in 77 and got on a roll ! College football is a cruel sport to follow. It lifts you to the top of mountains and then smashes you back down and you just have to hang on for the ride .

After an overall successful tenure of Frank Howard in which there was very little bowl season no playoffs and conference winner was the team with the best record we lost our way in the Ingram and Parker years Then Charley Pell revived us with Danny taking over after he bolted for Florida Danny’s years were great even in the 6 -5 season We loved our Danny and the fan base would have run into a brick wall for him Then we seem to lose our way again with Hatfield and West Hatfield was a good coach but the fan base never game him a chance because he was not Danny Tommy Bowden came along and did a respectable job with the talent we had and he did pave the way for the upgrade in facilities and better recruiting His demise was the loss of Rich Rod as offensive cord Then along comes the polished Danny Ford - they call him Dabo and everyone was happy Dabo has the cleanest Christian program ever Whether operating this type of program can every year compete with all those other major corrupt ones remains to be seen As for me and my family we choose Dabo and his program even if we have a hard time with those other do anything to win guys

Ha. I doubt saying “I remember walking to the games up hill in snow to watch us go 2-8 “is going to change folks thoughts on the game Saturday. If we had the Red Parker players versus Georgia, I doubt anyone would have been too disappointed .

I really doubt anyone turned in their orange because of one loss, but I would say folks were somewhat stunned at how unprepared the offense looked

But the difference is that the coordinators were not making multi millions and the head coach didn't live in a 19 room mansion. The past 2 years make even the 70's appear victorious when drawn out dollar-for-dollar.

Dabo and his staff have more than paid for themselves during the last decade He has grown the entire Clemson economy and now there are people everywhere that has heard of Clemson The joy I have had over the last 10 years is not measurable thanks Dabo for the good times for this 74 year old trooper

2014-18 was an incredible run, maybe the best run in the history of college football. No one would sanely argue that. It's 2019-2021 that have the issues.
