Clemson’s 2018 class

Has to go down as the most disappointing class in Dabo’s tenure. So much hype. So many 5 stars. Won their natty their first year, then proceeded to get worse every year after. So many overrated players/busts.

The 2018 class has had a few guys that have already been drafted and a few that will be drafted next year. Look at the 2019 class, that's a disappointment. The only other player that might get picked is Tyler Davis.

Trevor, Jackson, and DK are the only ones that have been drafted from the 2018 class.

Booth got drafted. He was in the 2019 class. Davis will get drafted next year. Ngata will get drafted if he stays healthy this year. Putnam and Sheridan have a shot to get drafted, especially if they have big years this year.

The difference is that 2019 didn’t have the star power that the 2018 class had. Booth was the only 5 star in 2019. The 2018 class had 5 with Trevor, XT, KJ, Jackson, and DK. A lot of people on this board were disappointed in the 2019 class. EVERYONE thought 2018 was the best class we had ever signed.

Georgia is the standard in recruiting. They are getting anyone they want.

it was ranked #7 nationally with 17 enrollees

minus Belk. The argument is technically sound because it gave us Lawrence, without whom, we would not have won that 3rd title.

As far as the early enrollees in this last class, we hit on most of them. it was ranked 17th.

Klubick, Pride, Covil, Randall and Sadler will all be great players for us. Of those not enrolled, most were fallbacks, so we will see.

that said, this next Classis is critical at a number of positions, DE, RB, and receiver.

RB is getting darn right scary

Really worried about that position group even this year the way injuries seem to mount for us now.

I like XT and KJ to be drafted ...

XT will hopefully be a comeback player of the year candidate. Putnam and Sheridan Jones not as much. Unsure either/both will start all year.

Love Booth. Hope he's finally healthy and can excel with the Vikes!

Tiger fans seriously underestimate how much DW4, the Power Rangers and TL16 meant to the program and how much they propped up Clemson Football. These guys were the answer to Dabo's prayers when he was an unproven and extremely humble coach.

Klubnik has a long wat to go, but he gives the 2022 squad a shot at returning to playoffs if coaches are honest enough with themselves and players to take that chance.

From the 18 class XT and KJ will get drafted.

For 2019 I'm not quite as high on Putnam or Sheridon as you are. Nothings shown me they are NFL players yet, although I'd be thrilled if both have stellar years. Ngata is a maybe guy for me seems like he's been a lot of potential with no pay off so far.

But 5 guys from a class of 17 looks a lot better than 2 guys from a class of 29.

Never know - I’m addition to cT and KJ-Dixon, Mascoll, Potter also???

Wait. Process the cognitive dissonance. Our highly ranked 2018 class is a bust full of disappointments AND Dabo can’t compete In the new landscape cause he can’t fill a recruiting class with nothing but 4 & 5 stars. Some folks should actively deny a Clemson education if they actually have one.

It’s pretty clear from his posts…

that this guy just began following recruiting and I don’t think he is mentally and emotionally strong enough to cope with the ebbs & flows of the machine

It will end up being 5 for 5.
Surely Thomas and Henry will be drafted next year: That will mean all of their 5-stars per 247 got drafted.

In the next group of 10 players, it’s a mixed bag. There were some oddities (Belk, etc).
I’m not sure who else from the ‘18 class, if any, has been drafted, but I think it’s impressive to bat 5 for 5 on your top five recruits.

The main point is that the 2018 class got worse every year. They won it all their first year, thanks to the Power Rangers and Trevor’s greatness.

Then they regress every year.

XT and KJ will get drafted. I have no doubts about that. I just expected them to be so much better. Micah Parsons was in their class. Bresee and Myles Murphy are what I expected them to be.

But, I went back and looked at that entire class. Yikes. Lots of recruits that amounted to nothing. Everyone missed on a bunch of dudes.

Understood. I too expected “all world” performances from #1 recruits. I think injury/illness played a significant role.
I’m betting on a monster year for both, even though they will be platooning with other talented players.

Without going through the numbers, I would guess that before Dabo the 2018 class would probably go down as the winningest class in Clemson history. Not too shabby...
