Clemson wasn't even close to top 25 in value

When Dabo took over our football program. Look what he turned it into. That is what we are expecting from our basketball coach. We are expecting somebody to come in and take this program from being mid tier to becomes a consistent national title contender. People are acting like Dabo was gifted this program that was head and shoulders above the rest and that just isn't true imo. Yes in the acc the football program had better footing compared to the competition then basketball has right now but money wise nationally Clemson football still doesn't come close to school like Texas, Bama, SoCal, etc yet Dabo has put the performance on the field at those teams levels and above. That is what we expect from Brownell. Right now we have a chance to do that this year and hopefully we finish strong and he proves this is the turning point.

yeah but how realistic is the expectation of what Dabo did

and finding the exact same guy in basketball? The heights of Clemson success during Dabo's tenure was unbelievable. I think if we're all honest we didnt' expect what we got out of the Dabo deal. Its one thing to have an immense budget for a sport but winning it all is another level that very few achieve.

Finding that coach who is good at actually taking it over the top and winning those big games is really rare. Its also hard to find a guy that is willing to stick it out and stay after being successful. The fact that Dabo is still here is not the norm. In basketball, here at Clemson, its way more likely for a coach to bolt after he shows success. Thats just who we've been.

Expecting a coach to build a culture, program, and win titles and stay put at Clemson is like looking for trying to find Sasquatch. Not saying its impossible (you never know whats out there) but if you're putting that kind of expectations on this or the next coach then I got a feeling we'll be looking for a new coach every 3 years. And no AD is going to want to deal with that kinda drama from year to year.

Neff is more than likely going to stick with Brad until he starts to produce losing seasons. It is what it is.

But if it happens and Brad gets canned in the next couple of years my opinion is to throw a large sum of money at a proven guy, not an up and comer. Tennessee goes and gets big named guys, why can't we? WE've never signed a coach that is an already proven coach. We always sign a mid major guy. Thats the 3 year plan kinda hire.

Nope

Football was head and shoulders above basketball in terms of ..
Attention
Fan support
History
Foundation of success
Consistent success
National interest
Funding
Etc.

Basketball at Clemson has been mediocre at best.

In fan support alone, Clemson basketball ranks 4th to
1. Football
2. Football recruiting
3. Baseball
4. Basketball

I terms of building a winning program, Brownells job is 10x harder than Dabos.

In 2016 we were the 26th most valuable football program and the 42nd most valuable basketball program. Not sure that's 10x harder. Most likely when Dabo took the job our value was lower then that 26 number.

You can say the same thing about Ohio St, Florida, Texas, Michigan, among others yet they have won national championships in basketball.

You aren’t countering an argument that he made. Try again.

Agree he took the program to the promise land. Clemson is positioned in a part of the country where it should be a giant.
