Clemson vs scar jr inside practice facilities

Aug 23, 2015, 9:57 PM

I keep hearing their facilities, including their new indoor facility is so much better than ours because of all the sec money; but I thought I read somewhere their indoor practice facility nearly identical to ours. Any info/ links to help?

usc's football facilities are very good, but they are in Columbia, on Bluff Road and 3 miles from campus.

Their basketball arena is nice, but way too large for the product.

Their baseball stadium is nice but was built grossly over budget and with the new minor league team in town - may suffer an attendance decline.

They have good facilities, but the analogy of "lipstick on a pig" might apply here.

I like ours better just because of all the Championship banners hanging up around the inside. The only banner they have is one of the OBS....

It looks better in the picture than in real life.

There is a lot, a real lot of room for trophies.

Anything new in Cootlumbia looks much nicer than it rally is due to the slum it is in the middle of.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Aug 24, 2015, 7:31 AM

You could build a cinder block building in that area and slap some fresh paint and a metal roof on it and it will look spectacular compared to 90% of the buildings in that dilapidated warehouse district.

:)

They have a broken down train with some new paint on it, and those people actually pay good money to sit inside it seven times a year. Go figure.

Nicer, doubt it...more expensive, probably

Aug 24, 2015, 7:50 AM

Clemson has the big upper hand in that they have land to build on. I don't know for sure but I bet SCar had to purchase land.

Truthfully there's not much difference between any of these indoor facilites. They are mostly just large metal buildings with a turf surface. If it's anything more that school is over spending.

Clemson also did not have to pay for site preparation. The
building was constructed around an existing artificial practice
field. Basically they built the walls around the field and added
the utilities for a first class indoor facility.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the indoor facilities are virtually identical

Aug 24, 2015, 8:33 AM

even used the same builder.

differences:
they have AC in their indoor facility and we do not (coaches did not want AC)
sf is basically the same (USC's may be a few feet taller, like that matters); both are regulation fields; you can do anything in there except punt.
we have terraces/catwalks to be able to get an elevated view for filmwork
they used a longer bladed turf than we did (matters in workouts/pro day stuff - Clemson has a faster track)

LOOKS LIKE WE MAY HAVE USED A LOT MORE PAINT ALSO.

Re:One Question

Aug 24, 2015, 9:21 AM

In one of the photos, there appear to be a lot of banners hanging. What are those for?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The two facilities are nearly identical.....

Aug 24, 2015, 9:36 AM

In fact, I believe the two schools used the same General Contractor.
