Clemson is not recruiting on the same equal field as the big

school, esp SEC. Most SEC school over sign or kick somone off the team for a new player if they feel he will be better. I wish we over signed 1 or two guys. It always works out that we have 1 or 2 guys not to work out or tranfer. I think we are walking on egg shells while recruiting. That why we are ranked 29 right now and only have 15 commits. But, time will tell. I hope I am wrong.

Yeah ESPN evaluates teams based on needs and quality instead of oversigning and quantity. We are an Adams or a Lawson away from a top 10 class from ESPN so we will get plenty of publicity. Also if VTs class shows you anything rivals puts a premium on 5* players and we will shoot up their board when we start landing a few of these guys.

doesn't ESPN have a number of our guys ranked higher?

For instance, Dane Rogers, Jordan Leggett, and Wayne Gallman are all 4 star on their board and 3 star on the Rivals board. They also have Mackensie Alexander ranked as a 5 star.

I do think we need to do a little more oversigning but I like our philosophy of not forcing ourselves to take scholarships from players. We don't get the positive publicity for it that we should and recruits don't see the results but it is the right way to handle things. You are right about the number of transfers and that will only grow as we continue recruiting at a high level. I think when the recruiting cycle begins we should always add 2 to the total number instead of reacting once transfers take place. The numbers always work out as long as your not oversigning by 4-5 per class. We were doing things right with this class but it backfired when we lost a few recruits. I still think we will finish with a relatively full class and in the top 15 in all rankings. Top 10 again in ESPN.

in good standing with several BIG TIME recruits. We're doing as well or better as any SEC or ACC school.

If we can't recruit with the "big boys"...

How did we get Sammy Watkins, Tajh Boyd, Travis Blanks, Charon Peake, Martavius Bryant, Zac Brooks, Stephone Anthony, Tony Steward, and the list goes on and on. Some people are just stupid enough to but into espn's sec hype. Look at NFL playoffs, there was only one starting QB from the sec. Now with 4 teams left there are no sec QB's

commits. The class will be ranked higher, perhaps much higher, by the end of the year. Look who we're looking at possibly signing: Lawson (5 star), Adams (5 star), Woulard (4 star), Crowder (4 star), Priester/ Clark (rated either 4 or 3 star by various services). There may be others I am forgetting, but those guys would obviously make this class a very high quality one, even if we only sign 20-22 guys. I'm not sure we can get Lawson, but surely adding 3-4 more 4 star caliber players and 2 5 star caliber players would give Clemson no worse than a top 15 class, even with the lower numbers.
As you say, though, there is always the chance that a player won't qualify, and when you're only taking 20-22 players, that really thins out your numbers. I do wonder why it is that more schools don't oversign. Is that just a conference rule thing?

The rankings go by quantity as much as quality. If you sort the Scout rankings by Average Stars Clemson is actually in the top 10.

many of the recruiting services incorporate quantity into their rankings, and Clemson only has 15 commitments so far while some other teams have taken as many as 33 commitments. Oversigning allows those teams to account for guys not qualifying, and might allow them to roll the dice a little more on guys who may not end up being great players. That's part of the reason why some rankings take account of quantity, and why so many teams do oversign.

and so called big boy schools. 29th with 15 only is really solid. look at the points, one solid commit gets them to 20th and so on....

Win win win at all cost even if you have to cheat to do it. Even if you have to be unethical and play with young peoples lives and futures! Win win sign sign it does not matter win win win. "Thank the good Lord that Dabo nor Clemson thinks or operates that way".

People complain when recruits don't honor their "commitments" yet want Clemson to turn around and do the same thing? Amazing.
