Clemson Nation It Is Time To Rally

Oct 19, 2021, 7:41 AM

I have spent almost my entire life in the Upstate. Graduated from Clemson in the 90s at a time when we did not play good football. I literally remember sitting in the student section listening to some of the students scream "We Want Hatfield" as we struggled watching our team with Tommy West as coach.

I could go on and on about all the frustrating losses and years of embarrassing moments on ESPN. For a long period of time the expectations of the fans did not equal the ability of the team which made matters worse.

Sitting through the 5 year streak was some of the toughest years as a fan even though we were winning more games. End up a season 9 and 3 or 10 and 2 but lose to the coots. Really took the starch out of a good season.

My parents are both from New Hampshire originally so at birth I was informed that while my college team would be my choice, my pro teams had been selected for me so from that day forward I was a Red Sox, Patriot, Bruin, and Celtic fan. Like my siblings before me, I chose Clemson.

Throughout all the Championships that my pro teams have won, NOTHING compares to watching our Tigers win Championships. However, as much as I love Clemson, I realize that we are not going to be in the playoffs every year. We are not going to win the ACC every year. We may not even win 10 games every year.

Point is, this year is frustrating for the fans because we have been spoiled by success. Check the record books and you will see that even the GOAT Tom Brady went from 2004 until 2014 without a Superbowl win. My father is in his 80s and had to wait a LONG time for the Sox to win a World Series. Winning is hard. Seems like I have heard that somewhere a few times.

As fans do we have the right to be frustrated? YES! Do the coaches and players need to perform better? YES! Does our coaching staff need to do things differently going forward in recruiting and scholarship management? That cannot be answered after a single mediocre season. We may know our answer next season if we are 12-0 or 9-3.

As fans we have a right to be frustrated, but these coaches that have won 2 national titles deserve our full support. These current players who could win our next national title deserve our full support.

"Keep he Faith"!

Go Tigers!

Go Sox!!!!!

You had me believing until your last sentence. These current players can't win a National Championship. But it's not "their fault". For the first time in 10 + years we are facing a season few expected ,but after 6 games, our coaching staff can't seem to pinpoint the problem, because there are more than one.
And until the coaches do two things; 1) quit with the excuses, and 2) fix the issues there won't be anything to Rally around.
This season is on the verge of either righting the ship or sailing off into an unknown Bowl game.

I don’t see it as a “this year” problem. We had two meaningful games the last two years and got our azzes handed to us. I like to believe a big win over Virginia means something, but the ACC is as weak as ever.

This is the 3rd year of really bad OL play, QB and WR play that seems to get worse. I have faith but no patience, because I was told that the best is yet to come.

It is a "this year" problem for 2 reasons; The last two years are in the past ,and next year is still a year away.
A year from now we may not have the problems we are facing this year .You never know, Tony Elliott might just be the new Head Coach at LSU and D.J. might say enough of this crap, and go advertise Dr. Pepper back in California.

And this is the problem with college football and with many Clemson “fans” today. If the only meaningful games in the last 2 years were the playoff games you are part of the problem. Every game is meaningful to the players and coaches. Like Dabo would say - the next game is the most important, if you do think so lose it and see what happens. 120+ teams don’t make the playoffs each year. If you’re so spoiled that those are the only meaningful games then why watch any football until December?
And maybe DJ5 gets back to where he was last year and we start winning and next year is back to what even the spoiled fans expect.

There's a reason so many players opt out if they're not playing in the playoffs. If best is the standard, then a garbage consolation bowl means nothing. I pity people who are so complacent that they're happy enough beating GT and going to the playoffs once in a blue moon. That attitude will bleed over into their own life.

I wish offense would score 20pts every game consistently.
