throw in. That's something you see in youth soccer. He wasn't being pressured and had plenty of time to look for a pass

One of the biggest differences between the American game and the international game is a players ability to play the ball out of the back. I wish our youth coaches would work more teaching footskills and how to set up proper angles to pass the ball. These kids are taught at a young age just to "boot" the ball out of bounds or down the field giving possession away far to easy. Tactical play is an area that our youth players are very rarely taught.

You can tell by the crowds reactions. In US college soccer games you'll hear favs screaming "get it outta there!" As soon as the opposing team gets remotely close to goal. While in European games you'll hear the crown groan when a defender cheaply gives a ball away.

So true. When I was younger(about 12) I went and trained with Blackburn FC in England. Forwards and outside midfielders were moved to defenders, playing as wingbacks, which allowed defenders to get forward, overlap on the outsides and whip balls in. Another problem is youth teams aren't learning how to play in different formations, 4/4/2, 4/5/1..... it's mostly a goalie, sweeper, stopper and two defenders which doesn't really teach players how to get forward out of the back or how to build possession.
