Everyone's against non-cops choking and murdering people and so on.

But only some people are against cops doing those things.

Nobody said he's a hero.

Apr 14, 2021, 12:49 PM

People have said he's a victim, which is hard to deny considering the Washington County Attorney's Office just charged Kim Potter with second-degree manslaughter.

And the fact that people keep expressing how little his life is worth explains why people keep shouting that black lives matter.

If you don’t want to interact with cops, then don’t choke a women and rob her of 800 dollars

If you don’t want to get shot by police, don’t resist arrest.

That said, he still shouldn’t have been shot. But it has absolutely 0 to do with racism or white supremacy. Which of course is what the media is pushing.

Cops are NOT judge and jury. And no one should get the death penalty for resisting arrest or even robbing someone.

Re: By win or lose...you mean live or die?

Apr 15, 2021, 9:27 AM

No reasonable person disagrees with you, so get off your fraeking high horse.

The low-life scum was a low-life scum. Did he deserve to die at that moment and in that way, no.

Did he increase the probability of someone making a mistake by doing what he did (history of crime, violating probation, and finally resisting arrest and trying to run) - YES.

Kim Potter is being charged with the same crime you can be charged with for running over a kid with your car while looking at your phone. Accidents happen. If the kid you killed would have crossed at the intersection using the crosswalk, he'd still be alive. This is what your wife, relatives, kids, etc. would all be saying, yet you will be facing involuntary manslaughter. Get it?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just curious M - do you think Potter shot him by accident?

Apr 14, 2021, 1:43 PM [ in reply to Let me fix your post... ]

If so - assuming she actually had her taser in her hand - would you say they handled the stop OK?

If not - what should they have done differently?

Re: Just curious M - do you think Potter shot him by accident?

Apr 14, 2021, 1:45 PM

I'm not M, but I think it was an accident and I'd guess the states attorney does as well judging by a manslaughter charge and not a murder charge.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

M's answer would depend on if he believes it was an accident

Apr 14, 2021, 1:48 PM

That's why I wanted to make that clarification. Some politicians have said they don't believe it was an accident...

No.

Apr 14, 2021, 2:01 PM

I think people not caring when certain people die has to do with racism. There's a reason why conservative media digs into a victim's character when it comes to incidents like this. There isn't always a racial component, but there typically is.

And real quick to the TDers: Your boos mean nothing. I've seen what makes you cheer.

Apr 14, 2021, 2:09 PM

a victim's character when we talk about things that have made the news. White people getting shot by cops doesn't make the news. So this conversation always revolves around black folks.

Personally, I have zero sympathy when a gang-banger gets shot - the color of the person matters zilch.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That was one heckuva an accident.

She's yelling "tazer! tazer! tazer!", while holding her revolver, that she drew from the other side of her body from where her tazer is positioned.

If it's not obvious to anyone at this point that the Minneapolis Police Dept has some pretty major, ingrained problems with race, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I'm as white as can be, and I'm also liberal but I'm not gonna resist arrest. At the least, I'm going to have some charges.

It's yes sir, no sir or yes ma'am and no ma'am for me. But, to many people, showing some respect to law officers mean you're kissing their ### or something. For me, I just want to be on my way after a traffic stop.

Re: This is where you people get confused

Apr 14, 2021, 1:49 PM

Thank you sir!!! This should never be a liberal vs conservative issue. Obey the law, show respect when stopped, all good. I’m white and I asked a black friend if he ever feels profiled ? He said “you mean when I walking down the street, shirt tucked in, saying good morning sir, how are you today ma’am? Nope can’t say that I have”.

have a mindset made up about you before they get to your car. Or your boat. Or golf cart. Or front yard. They WANT you to resist arrest, or be sarcastic to them, or really, just to give them a reason.

Fuk'em. I have zero use for them. They are like the IRS and insurance agents to me--the more time I spend around them the more it's going to cost me.

Once for me. And it was nearly 30 years ago. I was harassed by a black cop for being white driving through a black neighborhood.

To be fair, it was a known drug area so it was assumed I drove through buying drugs.

I’ve been harassed by cops twice. I’m white and look like a friggin choir boy. There’s a few bad apples in the bunch who just like to bully. But it’s not about race. All the cops I know personally are great people.

The entire situation is terrible but resisting the police can make a bad situation worse. Comply, then get a lawyer and let the court decide the outcome. The problem is over the past year people have been allowed to get away with breaking the law with little or no consequences in the name of political agendas and it has taught people that they can do whatever they want to and not obey the laws.If you really think that the majority of these rich politicians and organizations care about you (both sides of the aisle)then you are sadly mistaken. As for the rioting ,looting ,burning, etc. if black lives matter then why have we heard of no protest, riots, looting, burning, etc.this past week in Charlotte N.C. area for Cherie Shavon Ingram killed and body dumped in woods.Suspect is Keon Latroy Pernell. How about the 7 year girl shot in the head and killed by her uncle Jeremy Quintrel Lewis when he decided to get mad and open fire inside of a house. The reason is the narrative does not fit the political agenda because this is black on black crime. If black lives matter then why do these two black lives not matter. Once people realize they are being used for political agendas the better off we will be but a lot of people are not smart enough or care to understand this.

Re: Choking and robbing a woman at gunpoint

Apr 16, 2021, 9:20 AM

The man was a criminal. But didn’t deserve to die. And it’s not cool to speak ill of the dead. It was a tragedy. He had a son who will now grow up being told his dad was murdered by police for no reason. The chances of his child growing up and becoming a good decent success productive citizen has now been reduced to less the 1%.

Meanwhile. The 25 year veteran who dedicated her life’s work to protecting and serving lawful citizens is caught up in a political race war with a giant target on her back and will be martyred by the system for public showing and spend most of the rest of her life in prison.

The whole situation sucks.
