What's a popular restaurant chain that you've never visited?

Jan 3, 2022, 9:09 AM

One that is pretty common for everyone else, but you--for whatever reason--have never eaten at one?

Mine is Taco Bell. I've always thought it looks nasty, I've never much cared for anything remotely Mexican cuisine, and their marketing is pretty trash. Never even had it as a kid.

At this point, I think I'll take the streak to the grave.

What's yours and why?

Mexi dogs at Cookout are delicious. I very rarely eat fast food, but Cookout is an occasional guilty pleasure.

Jan 3, 2022, 9:15 AM

maybe been in one of their stores once or twice in my life, but when they had the place at that little East Campus store (next to Itza Pizza), I spent more Tiger Stripe money than I care to admit on their $0.95 burritos. College hungry is college hungry.

There was a period in the early 90's...

Jan 3, 2022, 9:37 AM

when me and BigDaddy got late night from there a minimum of 4 times per week.

1 taco, 1 meximelt, 1 bean burrito for $3 was the standard order if I remember correctly. That sheet was good! I think there was also some kind of sub place (Dinos maybe) there that I would get occasionally, but that was more of a $5 splurge.

Jan 3, 2022, 9:47 AM [ in reply to There was a period in the early 90's... ]

Didn't really like the meximelts at the time (although I have come to like them) so my order was $2. Unless I splurged and added a chilito. Dammn I miss those things.

Old Taco Bell was pretty good stuff.

Jan 3, 2022, 9:19 AM

I'm talking years ago, like when I was a student in the early 90s and used to hit up the little stand at the East Campus store a few times a week. They have changed the recipes enough to squeeze every penny out of each product and changed the menu times several times for the worse that I don't eat it as much as I used to (even though I still do hit it up occasionally due to convenience).

To try to give an answer to your question, I can't say I've never been there but I have only been to Chipotle once. Once was enough. Pretty sure I've eaten at just about every chain restaurant there is (that is available to me in my area).

Jan 3, 2022, 10:07 AM

didn't have one in my home town, never saw the need to go as it looks pretty average.

Red Lobster - grew up on the coast, didn't know these existed until I got to college

Been to Cheddar's a couple times, only b/c it was the only place by the hotel we stayed at in Perry when I was working paper mill outages in college

Only time I went to Golden Corral was in high school - whole team went kind of deal on a long road trip. Horrible idea b/c we lost that game.

Never been to a Panda Express - dunno how common that one is.
