Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Mar 18, 2019, 8:09 AM

Friday, freaked out about how much painting my house will cost. Still spent money at Lowe's.

Saturday, had to go back because something got left at Lowe's. Removed some wall paper. Spent more money at Lowe's

Sunday, removed more all paper, spent more money at Lowe's.

Saturday - Went to G'Vegas. Hit Cabela's for a couple of new lures. Came home and tried said lures out but no luck

Sunday - Watched the Players and cooked corned beef and cabbage.

Prolly a 6/10

Good. Had to be on call for work because financial reporting season.

Friday, just hung out on the porch and drank beer.

Saturday, got up and went to work out 4 them gainz. Then ate at Chick-Fil-A. Then changed my oil. Then cut my grass. Then picked up pine cones. Then I went and ate Mexican and had to rush home to post some financials.

It was very adulty until I got so drunk with an old hometown friend out at the local dive that I had to call an Uber and almost pizzed myself when woke up in my recliner at 4 a.m.

Sunday, watched LivePD reruns. Dad came down and provided plenty of free advice on what I should do with my yard. Ate brunch and let the pup lounge in the sun outside. Cooked carnitas.

Beautiful day. Watched "A Star is Born" and almost cried. JK, movie kinda sucks outside of the music. Watched TWD and thought about how I'd like to punch that Henry character in the mouf.

Not terrible.

Friday started installing new storm door. Found out "reversible" means "larger pain in the ### to install."

Saturday went to Charlotte to wifeofs God-daughter's b-day party. Stopped at Guitar Center and bought sonof a new Yamaha acoustic guitar. Looks/sounds good. Ate good fish at some fish camp.

Sunday finished installing door. Pollen cutting my asss... did little else. Celebrated Clemson making the NIT BABY!!!

44-16 out of 10. Wood dew again.

Friday: Worked late

Mar 18, 2019, 8:31 AM

Saturday: up early for opening day of tball/small fry whatever it is daughter of is in. Apparently there are a lot more rules than last year. Of course her coach didn't show up so me and one other assistant coach had to run things.

Apparently the assistant coach helping me has never had a ball thrown to him in his life so I had to captain the ship. His job was to make sure kids put their helmet on the right way.

The team we went against was coached by a huge ###### nozzle who I went to school with. Was fussing at the kids and such. Didn't go over well with the parents.

I only hit 2 kids with the ball. Only one cried. But to my defense, she cried the rest of the entire game.

Afterwards, it was playing in the yard, doing some yard work, trying to cut grass even though the lawnmower just won't start now.

Sunday: Was suppose to be a relaxing day. Negative. Spent all day doing house work and working on the lawnmower. After getting a new battery it still wouldn't crank. Checked fuel line, no problem. Check spark plug, problem. So now I pick up a new one today.

Overall: tired.

Friday: nothin', 19She went to see some frans so I had kids, watched some bball with pops, buddy brought his kids over, low key.

Saturday: get up at the buttcrack of 7:30am, shower, pack a few thangs, put some air in tires, and head towards Green Pond, Souf Cack. Doctor frans have their annual Games Competition. Each of the 5 landowners brings a guest, and it's every man for himself in the skeet comp, which has it's own engraved silver bowl and mint julep cup that you get to take home for a year, and then another large group of drinking games that they rotate around some each year. This year was darts, horseshoes, bucketball (becomes straight up fuckitball after roughly 2 rounds), and badminton (what a dumb idea, but the guy who dominated cornhole the past few years to the point of demoralizing everybody else and the game had to be replaced, well...he got to pick).

Shooting was 3 rounds in the skeet house and 2 in the field. The house is my weakness, I've learned. Also, half of those dicks were out there on Friday practicing, not to mention the sheer amount they get to go out there anyway by virtue of owning the place. Went 5-6 on singles, 4-6 on reports (1 pigeon then a second on the first fire), and 2-6 on doubles. 11-18 going to the field. 3 of the guys were 18-18.

Field shots are much more difficult, according to pretty much errbody, but I prefer them for some reason. Did crossing shots from right to left and left to right. I went 4-6 and 6-6. One other guy also hit 10-12, and he won the title because he was also perfect in the skeet house. The other two perfect shooters went 2-12 in the field. Average was maybe 3 or 4 of 12. I ended up tied for a distant second out of 9 shooters. And 40 or so 12 gauge rounds will leave a mark.

Did meh at the games comp, didn't even make the finals in any of the 4--darts game was off, and I'm usually a pretty good thrower. I used to be good at horseshoes, but I can't really pick that game up for the first time in 15-20 years and expect to beat guys who play regularly. And the other two games can suck it. Drank lots and lots and lots of bourbon, from 10:15am to about 2:30am. Passed out in car, because small cabin and I was guaranteed to snore like a champ, so I was a courteous drunk.

Sunday: awful hour+ drive home, spent day being worthless. Wifey made some corned beef sammies and Irish nachos (with tater tots, because Irish). Told her (more than once) that her getting naked would make me feel better. She did not get naked. Sympathy level at roughly -2/10.

Yeah, I don't know the names of the plantations, but there

Mar 18, 2019, 9:47 AM

are a couple SPECTACULAR properties on the way out there. I mean, you can't find a picture of anything more southern than a few of those roads and colonials. The Snapchat guy from MTP (well, former Snapchat guy who sued and won $70M) has a couple hundred acres adjacent to these guys. Rumor has it he has a bigass garage with some nice rides, and a climate-controlled "barn" (that's not really a barn, now is it?) with a bunch of high-end artwork. We've been toying with the idea of some bourbon-fueled late-night recon, but he probably has his place pretty wired up. It likely wouldn't end well.

Fri - returned from Chattanooga to the pouring rain and effed up traffic of I-85 of Upstate SC, immediately started drinking Don Julio
Sat - planed a door that was sticking, cleaned and refinished front mahogany door, dinner club at frens and ate too much, didnt drink enuff, still got headache...
Sun - family reunion where various very aged uncles rambled incoherently about stuff from the 50's and 60's; one cousin's husband was dressed like a dayem leprechaun, the idiot. Another cousin who's a big coot made a kind comment about our football success; I still told him he was lucky it was St Pattys and that I had on green; if not for that I would have on a lotta Orange and making a nuisance of the coots present!

Dang good food to be had!

Mar 18, 2019, 8:41 AM

Fri - considered going into work, then laughed at myself and then some redhead things. Went to the pub for a beer. Sang some karaoke later that night as usual.

Sat - hung around the house until heading out for retirement party for dadof flow0440 Went to early supper with wife and baby, family of flow, brother and family, and some friends that I had not seen in a long, long time. Went to the "Bacon and Brews" festival in downtown Aiken, celebrating all things bacon and craft beers. LOLOLOLOL. Bought baby dippin dots b/c LDR, and some cotton candy. Saw no bacon, and the craftiest beer I had was a Hi-Wire IPA. Last year the craft beer was bud light and shocktop, so I guess this years was a little better. Band was Tokyo Joe - yes, that is still a thing. Actually didn't suck too bad if you don't mind hearing 80s rock songs for the 11,687th time in your life. Went home and stayed up WAY too late for redhead things.

Sun - Went to the pub for St Paddy's Day. Had two kolsch and their version of shepherds pie. Wasn't bad but decided I could do better so went home and made shepherds pie ala bigdaddy. I was right, mine was much better. Went and hung out with some friends after supper, had a couple beers and sang some front porch karaoke. How we didn't have the cops called on us I do not know. Home, no redhead things because tired.

Mar 18, 2019, 8:59 AM

Friday, took the day off and slept in. Got up and expended every effort I could muster to be lazy coffee drinking man. Finally pup wanted to get out, so we hiked around the surrounding countryside for a while in spite of the misty conditions. Came back and ate some lunch, the took taxes to the family accountant to get prepared. Turns out, you CAN hide money. Headed over to our jam hut and sat around with the drummer and lead guitarist watching videos of our last practice, and drank a few Natty Lights that our rhythm guitarist had left in the fridge since he was at work and I didn't want them to spoil because that's the kind of pal I am. Left there to go visit with RH Mom for a bit, then back to the house to get the pup out. Mrs. Tig was at the hospital with her mom until late, so made a sammich, drank a couple more beers, finished watching the Umbrella Academy, crashed.

Saturday, coffee, chores, worked on the muddy rut beside the driveway for a few of hours. Been harvesting all the flat river rock that I could find over the last couple of months to fix the spot and after moving the entire pile, I realized how woefully short I was. Got cleaned up and took pup over to run off leash RH Mom's yard with Joonyer's pup. It was a hoot watching them tire each other out. Back to the house and got dressed for the 99th quarterly meeting of our supper club. Lead guitar in the band hosted, so we played an acoustic set before heading to eat. Ate at Hickory Tavern, which I wasn't particularly excited about, but the food was very good. Back to play an electric set which was not very good because too many drunks playing too loud. Still had an absolute BLAST.

Sunday, slept in. Got up and expended every effort I could muster to be lazy coffee drinking man. Mrs. headed back to the hospital, I walked pup and slowly made my way toward making a grocery run. Finally found the inner strength to leave the house. Made grocery run, came home and walked pup. Joonyer and his fiance came to the house and ate pizza and we chatted about early wedding plans. Looking like late spring/early summer of 2020 right now, but they're going to take their time and do their research which is smart. They left just before 9:00, so I flopped into the Big Chair and watched Walking/Talking Dead, then crashed.

After extrapolating the variables using both the NET and KenPom ratings, the weekend received a #4 seed, with deductions mostly for shoddy baseball and LOLUTZ-level basketball outrage for missing the Big Dance.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What kind of research do you need to get married?

Mar 18, 2019, 9:19 AM

Pick a place, grab an available weekend, start working on everything else. Unless you are using a hotspot for weddings, you only really need 6 months. Presumably they are not getting married in Football season because they are not stupid, then next Spring makes sense. I suggest Clemson in May. My wedding consultant fees are $125/hour, same as my massage rates.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, Joonyer does want to do it in the West End Zone but

Mar 18, 2019, 9:29 AM

they haven't seen the price on that yet, LOLUTZ. Mostly research involved figuring out where they want to do it. The when will be a matter of availability because wedding venues in and around York County are booked almost a year in advance.

And yes...family rules dictate that no weddings may occur from mid-August to mid-January. Wills can be changed, you know.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good.

Mar 18, 2019, 9:00 AM

Wife worked all weekend and left me to play Mr. Mom.

Friday I changed the ignition switch in my truck. The detent spring had come loose and was rolling around the switch contacts causing some very odd intermittent electrical issues. #winning.

Saturday started off with the boy and I going to Waffle House. Then, I got the vanity installed in my perpetual bathroom project. Water connected. Electrical outlet relocated due to a higher than anticipated back-splash. Grout sealed. Door jamb trimmed out. Made corned beef and cabbage.
Drank lots of Guinness. Spilled cabbage juice in the bed. Luckily it was on SarahAdidas's side.

Sunday, we went to Greenville so that Jr could participate in the CW42 football camp. The boy had a blast. While he was at camp, Daughter and I met up with some friends and had lunch/beers. An autographed 8x10 was included with the camp, and a I snagged a DW4 autographed 8x10 for $30. #swag They had a really nice leather football autographed by BB10 for like $30. I bet the ball cost nearly that much, lulz. Still passed on by all 250 camp members.

Friday out with friends for wife's birthday and kids

Mar 18, 2019, 9:14 AM

slept at grandparents for first time ever (all together). This would normally mean lots of fun that evening, but the friends had to go home to relieve their babysitter and wife had her aunt in town that kept us from doing what adults do when kids are gone for the FIRST TIME EVER.

Saturday get up and kids come home early. Shittheads cause didn't sleep. Run 12 miles then go to breakfast. Then get daughter's ears pierced cause her birthday is this week. Home then get ready for wedding shower for friends. Good time that evening eating oysters and drinking beers. Still no fun when we get home cause reasons that biologically suck.

Sunday up but skipped church. Wife and daughter go to Charlotte for Peter Pan ballet, I get boys ready to go to store, etc and realize my wallet, license, etc are all in my wife's car. I had a $50 spot at the house but can't get much groceries for that so I went to parent's house and washed car and checked on Dad. He thinks he will be driving in 3 weeks and he is going to be SORELY disappointed when we, the doctors, etc all inform him that he may never drive again. For his safety and everyone else's safety it needs to be done. He also thinks he will be getting on the tractor soon but I highly doubt that.

Anyways, working from home today cause kids have a teacher workday. Tried to convince wife to come home for a nooner while the kids nap, but, again, nature is getting in the way.

Bitter/10

Nice cause wife and daughter birthdays are around here...and the weather is starting to get better.

Every single person in MTP I ran into at a business

Mar 18, 2019, 5:01 PM

said "you guys". MTP has definitely lost its southern roots. Shem Creek is in the middle of a shopping/restaurant village now and is full of yachts and not trawlers. Houses are insane. Even over on Sullivans Island. Place is a huge real estate bubble, but as long as there id demand...it's not going to burst totally.

I was trying to explain real estate, and traveling to my son. I told him you don't want to go to the places everyone else wants to go and knows about. You want to vacation somewhere awesome that most people do NOT know about. Because once it's "discovered" it loses what made it so attractive. Real estate is the same way. Location location location. MTP and Shem Creek especially have lost what made them so attractive. Cancun...went there when there were maybe 10 hotels. It was awesome. Haven't been back in years. We then went to a place called Maroma south of Cancun, maybe 20 miles or so. You could not see evidence of humanity for at least 10 miles, as far as you could see, on the beach. It was totally isolated, in the jungle, away from other hotels, had an awesome beach, and was totally private and exclusive. Now it's in the middle of the Mayan Riviera and is built up.

Belize...was awesome to visit there in 1992. Today the thatched huts where I stayed are nice hotels. The little dingys for snorkeling are now big tour boats.

Costa Rica is the new travel destination, but it too is going to be overrun within a decade.

Anyway, Charleston is still holding on to its charm somewhat. But MTP is where they seem to have totally sold out.

Not bad at all

Mar 18, 2019, 9:40 AM

Friday: drove over and watched one of my club players break the career goal scoring record for her school. A deluge came down, but wisely took my Hyundai Ark, non-flammable version (zettner.)

Saturday: up way too early, headed over to the coast to see daughter run in a track meet. ON my feet for seven hours straight, still sore af. Watched ACC finals, I will tell you what, I miss the ACC championship on at 1PM on Sunday on Raycom. And RIP Raycom, one of the staples of my chilhood was watching ACC football and basketball games, and good old Mike Hogewood.

Sunday: slept in, watched Chelsea lose....again. I have no words to describe the completely unmotivated second half. Sarri OUT. Went out shopping. I rarely go to any store on the weekend, so I was a bit amazed by the amount of people at Target. Wandered over to the scokker field to piddle around. Watched the NCAA selection show, whoever invented this N.E.T. thing, well that was the most wasted time ever, because, it is apparently useless. Started planning my NIT party. Loaded up the car for today and went to bed early.

all in all it was a good weekend

11/11 - because these go to 11

N.E.T. - 56 (because, does it really matter ?)

first 15 minutes. Then they just died, especially in the 2nd half. Their away form looks BAD right now much like we were last year. I swear Arsenal is being gifted the top 4, but we will find a way to give it to ManU.

Mar 18, 2019, 10:15 AM

Got home late Friday, nothing of note really happened. Went to my first HOA meeting Saturday morning. What an eye opening experience. Simply shocking what some people concern themselves with. The yankee transplant stereotype definitely has a lot of truth to it...Yankees of the lunge, what is with you people and taxes/fees? Why do you love them so much?

Messed around in the yard the rest of the day, mowing season is finally upon us it appears.

Sunday I wish I could recreate every day for the rest of my life. Took the boat over to Local Pub and Eatery which I HIGHLY recommend to Andersonians. Wilbur, I figure you would be interested to know that they're doing actual dock service this summer. You order and pay online, they give you a time to show up, and bring your food down to the dock. Food is excellent, dare I say one of the better restaurants in the entire Upstate.

Left there and rode up to the ###, pretty neat seeing how small it looks when the water is up. Piddled around some more on the boat, then went back and rode some trails for an hour or so. Went home when it started to cool off, realized I was closing in on being pretty drunk, so crashed on the couch.

Friday wife of and I watched some movies and drank some drinks. Got obsessed with the Winchester house after the movie. Watched first half of Life in the Air and thought it was pretty interesting. Went to bed late and fooled around.

Saturday, wife of took older girls to Charlotte and older boy was at a school competition so younger son and baby and I goofed off with the drone that TOTE1 reminded me I own. Then left baby with younger son to pick up older son. Wife of went out with friends so Bojangles for dinner because lazy. Watched the end of Life in the Air and it kind of sucked. Picked wife up from bar and power drank to catch up with her level of buzz. baby woke up so fed bottle and played for a few minutes. Baby back to sleep so went to bed and fooled around.

Woke up and fooled around then did yard work for a couple of hours. Wife and I took stuff to the mission and went grocery shopping but accidentally stopped at Random Tap for beers. Then grocery. Went home and cooked burgers for everyone which were effing awesome. Then watched TV because tired. Did not fool around because high gravity draught beer made wife sleepy at like 9 and she fell asleep putting younger son to bed.

Re: Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Mar 18, 2019, 11:50 AM

Went to winter place for the weekend. Tubed and skied. The oldest and I skied. She picked it up fast. I hadn’t skied in 25 years and I shredded it! I even learned a new trick by simultaneously stuffing my pants with snow and cracking my phone screen all at the same time and all at a high rate of speed with an abrupt deceleration.

Mar 18, 2019, 2:18 PM

Friday night--worked until 12:30, so Friday was over before it started.

Saturday-Went out to Sullivan's Island to have a beer in honor of St Patrick, and thats about all that was there. Had 2 beers and was it was bored AF out there, so left and went to Red's. Couldn't get a beer at Red's because it was crowded, and realized that pollen isn't the only thing I can't handle as I get older. Big crowds where everyone is bumping into me and spilling beer on me just suck; I can't do that any more. We migrated next door to Tavern and Table and that was MUCH better. Had a drink or two there, listened to the band at Red's for awhile, tried to eat, and ended up sending half of it back because it was just terrible. After that we went home and I sat around for a while and got drunk enough to walk up to the Southern for another beer.

Sunday slept until about 11 because of the day before, and hung out on the couch most of the day playing the quiet game with Mrs. Ineligible because I stayed out until 2:30 am. Of course, I had no idea I was even playing the quiet game until she said something at like 3:00. I was hungober anyway and probably wouldn't have had much to say anyway.

On a plane now going to somewhere in California to--and I quote: "fix it" regarding someone who simply won't do his job. I can't fire the guy, so I have no idea what I'm going to do out there--maybe his job? I dunno. I'll figure it when get out there, I guess.

Mar 18, 2019, 3:48 PM

Friday...went to son-of's end-of-season party with his basketball team.

Saturday...Waffle House with son-of, errands, drop off son-of at church to meet his coaches for the championship game of his basketball league...and drove to Aiken with rest of family for my Dad's retirement celebration. Was a great celebration and saw a lot of old family friends and some crazy relatives. Docs are giving my Dad likely less than a year to live, but I can tell you he'll be going out knowing he's loved. He's touched a lot of people's lives and he can be proud of that. Dinner after with friends incl BigDaddy then back to Anderson to pick up son-of, who won his basketball championship and was pretty fired up about it.

Sunday...slept in and missed church. Hit Earle Street Kitchen for brunch and had some awesome corned beef and cabbage and a bunch of other stuff. Great weather and got some much needed stuff done around the house. Cooked Penne and sauce for dinner and watch the movie Tag with wife-of. Wasn't half bad.
