Chad's Ego lost the game for us.

Sep 22, 2014, 10:11 AM

Every throw down the field was open. Every Throw. Williams makes a highlight reel catch with one shoe on. Scott, Peake, Humphries, SS, McCullough: open, open, open, open, great catches off of great throws. Our back shoulder plays had FSU's defenders shaking their heads. TE Out patterns were mismatches with FSU's LBs.

Chad Morris' stubbornness to abandon what is working and run the ball on almost every first down for 1 yard (at best) is pathetic and a concerning trend. Of course running a play out of the Shotgun on the 1/2" line is stupid, but what really set me off was motioning the RB out of the backfield as well. Chad, they know we are not going to throw it, their LB will not budge, you are just trying to be Cute down on the goal line and it hurt us. His decision after a timeout on 4th and 1 in overtime to run the same failure of a play is unacceptable. Without question, a Fake Field Goal has a better chance of working vs a play everyone in the stadium knows is coming. Hell, at least with Pinion warming up it would look even less like a potential fake and more like we are trying a different kicker because we need points.

No it didn't......3-4 players lost this game......

Sep 22, 2014, 10:15 AM

no it's not popular to blame players, but it is what it is.

I've been the biggest critics of dabo and the staff over the years, but the majority of the blame in THIS GAME was lost by those few players.

yes, coaches have some blame to go around but they had us in position and prepared.

Irrelevant. None of that happend in OT did it?

Sep 22, 2014, 10:21 AM

After everything that went wrong, we have a chance to score a TD and let our defense win the game for us. We had a 4th and 1 and our coaches quit.

Disagree with you completely. Those plays during regulation

Sep 22, 2014, 10:25 AM

are only irrelevant to you because it doesn't fit in with your argument. The coaches called a great game. The players failed to execute in the most critical situations. That's on the players.

it shouldn't have even gone to OT if it wasn't for .........

lack of execution of those 3-4 players.

going to affect playcalling for the rest of the year, and not in a good way. It will probably result in more second guessing, especially if we lose another game. Though, I don't expect us to.

I agree morris wants to run the ball like auburn so bad that he forgets how effective a passing offense can be (and also open up the run game). I do not dislike The Chad but he is not the offensive guru people make him out to be. Georgia smoked him just like fsu did last year. And he didn't once pull Boyd out for a series just left him in to flounder around all night until the game was hopelessly lost.

The lack of someone who can make a field goal, short one at that, under pressure cost us the game, if he makes just one of those field goals none of the other things y'all mentioned matter. That's my opinion anyway.

His "Jr. High" play calling is making all Clemson fans sick, let some other U pay him his over priced salary.

Arent there always complaints that Chad abandon's the run

Now he runs it and you are upset?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are correct in that offensive play calling lost the game

Sep 22, 2014, 12:01 PM

I don't know if the root cause is ego, but I do know that when you have a QB with an NFL arm, you don't run him all night like a running back. I know you don't line up in a shotgun formation on the 4 yard line on 1st down. I know you don't call a QB keeper from a shotgun formation in OT on 4th down and a foot.

I do know when your receivers are open, you throw to them. I do know when the center of the field is open when you send the wide outs deep, you attack it. I do know that if our offense had played as well as our defense, we would have won 40 to 20, and Coach V has only been here two years.
