Chad Morris

Aug 30, 2014, 9:19 PM

In watching big games, it is almost as if Chad outsmarts himself. Against South Carolina, while we are having tremendous success running it, he decides to virtually eliminate it in the second half. Tonight, both Stoudt and Watson were deadly accurate and we were going vertical often and with great success. In the second half, we consistently ran the ball on first and second down and then when it was third and long and an obvious passing down, we drop back. It is almost as if he makes these decisions out of pride and is stubborn to take what has been working for half of the game.

I understand that we don't have the personnel that we did last year. But tonight, it doesn't appear that was the issue.

Hard to figure CM tonight

We've seen him abandon the run before. Tonight is the first time I can recall us abandoning the passing game.

We had a couple 1st half drives stopped on dropped passes, but I thought our receivers settled in nicely. I thought we moved the ball well through the air.

Cole threw the pick on a late pass, and I could see him locking in on 1 receiver a few times -- every QB does until they get enough reps.

I thought we were too conservative/predictable in the 3rd quarter. By the 4th qtr the Dawgs were able to blitz on every down.

I thought our D gave us a chance until they got worn out.

Tough night.

Great post s above. Could not agree more. Chad has a lot of learning to do about coaching psychology as it relates to play calling. He's much too easy to read.
