CFB Playoff chairman giving excuses

Mississippi St comes from 3 spots back to jump Michigan St in the final CFB Playoff ranking and here's what committee chair Jeff Long says about it:
"We went back and looked at Mississippi State and Michigan State and really, when we started that clean sheet of paper, the fact that Mississippi State had two top-25 wins really caused us to look at those rankings and rank them differently. When Mississippi State has four top-25 victories, along with four other victories against winning programs or bowl-eligible teams and Michigan State had zero, and they have four against .500 or better teams. So that's really what swayed us to make that change."
Is he basically saying that the committee didn't do its job before this ranking?

"#21" A&M. Those bogus SEC pre-season rankings get the job done. It vaults A&M up to a bogus #6 when unranked Miss St beat them. scar and A&M end the season unranked, not even receiving any votes. Yet they are saying that's what was used to jump Miss St. up?
Criminal.

Yes, and the fix was in from the start.

I really blame the Gamecocks for all this. If they hadn't made a pedestrian aTm team look like the greatest offense of all time, the Aggies wouldn't have gotten that huge rankings jump right before they played in the SEC west. aTm was the gateway team this year.

Get rid of NCAA and board. Let the conferences rule college football!

There needs to be some oversight but what does need to happen is a complete overhaul of personnel in the NCAA offices. Also NCAA officials should not make any more than 400,000 plus incentives as far as travel and those sorts of things.

Its job is to make one ranking, the last one.

The other rankings are just for entertainment. People were too worried about them, all along. I wonder if the success of those weekly ratings in terms of generating interest will make them want to do that again, despite the additional scrutiny they caused.

There is no way thier first ranking 6 weeks ago has mis and msu in the top 10 without the usuc , a&m lsu and auburn being top 10 two weeks before the season began.

offense.
Outside of the death knell in Lane Kiffin's #1-to-7-6 season, he's 0-for in bowl games. Any team that gets 4+ weeks to prep to stop the offense can do it easily.
They will lose by 14+ points.

Was Mich St ranking used to bost OSU rank (B1G Champ game)?
Dec 9, 2014, 8:32 AM

So OSU (B1G) benefits and get ranked higher because of MSU ranking. Then, soon as that's not needed to justify OSU's ranking, Miss State is suddenly jumped so SEC gets better ranking (bowl). Think I understand now - the old "heads I win, tails you lose" routine.

A 4-loss Auburn team and a 4-loss LSU team barely clinging to the top 25 by the benefit of their conference affiliation...
Who else that is ranked?

They are counting TA&M, Auburn and LSU considering the rankings at the time they played. I'm not sure who the fourth top 25 win is.
Its a bunch of crap basically. He's basically trying to justify the unjustifiable.

As long as the sec teams gets high rankings for no other reason than being in the sec, then this process will be a joke.

Exactly. OklahomA has 4 losses just like LSU/auburn
Okla lost to TCU barely?
I'd take them over LSU, with the goose egg against arky.
