CFB has no idea. But CU just getting started!!

Looking at our "composite class" or the 5 year average of the class rankings of each team in 16 and 18. We had a composite class "OUTSIDE THE TOP 10". Playoffs 4 years in a row and 3 NCG appearances! All with classes outside the top 10.
***What will the usual contenders do now when this staff has similar talent? Is Saban still ahead of the curve? Or has at least one coaching staff caught up with how to prepare? I think so. His only advantage would then be - better players - real soon that gap won't be nearly as big! It doesn't guarantee wins or championships - the players still have to put in the work. The staff still has to put in the work. But, nothing this staff has done makes me think they will do less with "MORE"!
We aren't going anywhere college football world! Get used to Clemson being in the picture!

Hope so but look at Texas. They recruited like gang busters and lost their way for years anyway. It isnt all recruiting. I do think culture will help us here because Dabo handles that unlike Mac who got slipshod.

top recruiting classes (which is why we've performed so well.) So what would should we expect when we STILL everything else PLUS top recruiting classes. Logic says pretty dang much.

I'd think programs like 'Bammer, FSPU, LSPU, Jawga, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, USC and several other biggies would be in much greater danger of feeling entitled, since they've been media darlings for decades. And the so-called experts still pick Meechigan as a top five team, even though they've done nothing in years to warrant such confidence. Little Ole Clemson doesn't take anything for granted. The least of our concerns.

ddclemson Agreed! No way will the team get that way. And no way will the fan base get that way!
I was a kid in 81 when the Tigers won it. I still remember the feeling the adults had and pride shown! Then the next how many years happened before we were on that mountain top again? You can't go through not going bowling. Losing seasons and such and ever get to the point where you feel: "you are owed something"! That is at best some words of caution; but Clemson fans have been catching it like we have never won a NC on message boards! Fans of other teams won't allow us to get comfortable and that is just fine with me. As you said, the traditional blue bloods ( the ones who won titles that were voted on ) all have entitled fan bases! Little old Clemson likely will never have that!

74TIGER I hope my post didn't make you think anything about Clemson being entitled. That wasn't the intent. It is in fact exactly what Bengalbilly said - we have beaten folks who have higher rated classes! We have done it with hard work and attention to detail. With finding those gems that the other top programs dismissed or looked over! None of that in the example I gave goes away! It only grows! We remain humble and hard working and with a "windshield mentality"! With a "the best is yet to come mentality"!
I was just saying, "we just do it with higher rated players"!
**I just trust that we bring in high rated players who are also "hard working non-complacent non-entitled type players also"! This coaching staff will i have full confidence.

Good Point 74Tiger!

As I was typing that I kind of paused. It was a "wait a minute we have been beating people with higher recruiting rankings than us"! So, I agree 100% it isn't all recruiting ranking. I have said that for the longest about our coaches! They do an outstanding job of finding those "gems"! I think they hit on a few this season that by the time they are done people will think they came in as 4 or 5 star players. The following: Ruke Orohohoho Reuben Ethinoso Mikey Dukes Tayquan Johnson Landen Zanders
Before these dudes are done I anticipate they will have made a huge impact! They are all good but needed either more weight or higher level competition to have been rated higher! Couple of them haven't been playing football long.
3 star players who have a chip on their shoulder "must still be in the mix"! They push the 4 and 5 star guys and don't allow them to get complacent. Khalil Mack was a 2 star player. JJ Watt was a 2 star player. Russell Wilson a 2 star. Jordy Nelson. https://herosports.com/nfl/2-star-recruits-leveon-bell-david-johnson-jj-watt-byby
IN short - as long as we keep the staff we have - "if you can play our staff will get you on board"! College Strength and Conditioning programs are going to get a player to max out their potential! But, can they play is the 1st thing you have to find out. It's almost like coaches want plug and play - we don't have to work on this kids body players only. Problem is - sometimes the 5 star comes in "already maxed out physically" where maybe the 2 or 3 star never reached that max in H.S. I don't think we will ever stop bringing in our share of lower rated players! Because some 5 and 4 star players don't fit the culture. And ultimately, the culture will have to continue being emphasized and stressed so this awesome run CU football is on can continue. It will!

Good points! I think the point can be made even better considering the 3 stars on the team now that may make a big impact this year. This better illustrates your point because it is not an assumption of talent, but proof of talent that Dabo and the staff have found:
Skalski Simmons Anchrum Muse Cervenka:

JPRICH Top Paw® I agree with you. And, yep, the guys you listed are a perfect example. Anchrum and Simmons will be high draft picks! Cervenka will get drafted somewhere in the late rounds.
The 1st thing our staff does is identify if kids are the type of kids who will put in the work! If he is a three star; but just needs strength and work done to get more physically able/ready to play - they will take'em. I mean, "it's exactly what Chris Pederson was doing at Boise State but w/o the 4 and 5 stars too"! We get our fair share of highly rated players but we also { build our own 4 and 5 star players }! OL is a perfect example and they have played some of the very best DL's across college football and neutralized them or "WON"!
I see our staff of being a mix of what Oregon and Boise State were doing mixed in with a bit of high level recruiting like Alabama! Mixed in with a high powered offense like early years Gus Malzahn and Chip Kelly! Not all made up of 5 star players but players - "Clemson built"!
The chip on the shoulder the 3 star guys bring to the mix keeps the push going! It's great and will continue to push Clemson Football at or near the top of the pile of college football.
Go Tigers!

Even before recruiting tapered off, Mac's teams were soft the last several years. One thing in particular: It was rumored their weight training regime was really below standard.
Once recruiting fell, UT crashed.
Off topic: I'm convinced Alabama's Scott Cochran is the little known secret sauce to Nick Saban's success and is a key reason they physically dominate opponents year after year. No other team in college football has so many "jacked" players.

Scott Cochran "is no doubt the secret sauce"!
Saban knows the same thing Dabo knows. You have to motivate 4 and 5 star players just as much as you do 2 and 3 star players. So, keep a guy clipping at their heels so they can't get comfortable. The competition in practice is hard; the games end up being easy! Cochran is considered the best - but off topic - you wonder if he was at Wake Forrest if he would have the same success? I always thought the S & C & S coach at Byrnes High school would have been a great addition to our already outstanding S & C team. He has literally written the book on it and is nationally recognized for his work! Mike Scrock - https://www.amazon.com/Strength-Training-Increase-Speed-Football/dp/B00BLU3N0W
You wonder what would happen if Cochran left for whatever reason? Hopefully our S & C team stays in tact and continues to look for the newest in getting the most out of an athlete's potential.

Cochran would elevate any school to a level higher than they would be without him.
If he left Alabama, it would be a major blow. He's been the 2nd most important coach on their staff after Saban for quite some time because you can't plug and play guys like him the way ole Nick does with his other assistants.

It's kind of hard to believe Gage Cervenka was not a 4 or 5 star given his prowess on the mat. Usually scouts love that about OL b/c they know how to use leverage. They are also tough, physical and strong! A 4 time heavy weight champion on the mat should not have just been a 3 star player. Likely penalized for being in SC. As a fan of South Carolina high school football; I can attest we have kids who get overlooked every year! It's getting better though. Perception hasn't caught up with reality for novice followers of H.S. football in the state. Rock Hill alone currently has 7 players in the league. Good find by our coaching staff. Gage is going to embarrass other OL when he gets to the combine with his strength and flexibility!

@caCarlsbad® Everything I have been hearing about him has been of the, "we didn't expect him to be this good this early variety"! I would say, he needs to RS; but DJ will be here next year!
We have two guys I would go into any game versus any opponent and feel confident about now! Taisun with more system knowledge sounds like he will be the 3rd sooner rather than later!
Go Tigers!
Thank You God for our depth!

program at this level. Beyond being a master at recruiting both the skill and intangibles in players and coaches, he's instituted a game management regimen and execution that is second to none. The player rotation and depth, the heavily scripted offensive playcalling deep into first halves, the total teamwork at play throughout a game - I don't recall seeing a team managed quite this way before as a college fan. We could be further ahead than the rest of the field than we realize. Some definite credence to "the best is yet to come" for sure.
Go Tigers.
