Thank you UT, OU and SEC. Now we have to listen to more

nonsense like

Notre Dame to the ACC
UCF or USF to the ACC
Penn State to the ACC
WVU to the ACC
Pods

for at least another year.

I REALLY don't get the love from some on here with UCF. ACC doesn't need another split of conference money with a school from a junior league conference (AAC) from a state where two (Miami, FSU) of the major 3 schools are already in the conference.

Exactly. When will people understand if you want more TV money and clout then you enter territories or states you aren't in. ACC has state of Florida wrapped up already.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's all about the money, TV market, etc. UCF wouldn't

Jul 22, 2021, 9:34 AM [ in reply to UCF has 68k enrollment ]

bring a new TV market since we already have FSU and Miami.

I certainly don't get a vote, but if I did...

Jul 22, 2021, 9:37 AM

I would not support a recommendation to add any teams like UCF, USF, Memphis, Cincinnati, UConn, or Navy.

Penn State...

and then insist that Notre Dame either **** or get off the pot.

Certainly agree that Penn State would be a much better get

Jul 22, 2021, 10:25 AM

I don't think a lot of people that recommend UCF, USF, Memphis (???), Cincy, UConn or Navy are saying that they are better gets than Penn State...they are mostly dismissing the idea that a Big Ten team is interested in jumping ship.

I'd be all for your plan...but again...realistically, I don't think Penn State wants or needs to move. More likely would be WVU if the Big 12 really blew up...they are a great rival to Pitt and obviously have history with the other Big East legacy teams as well. Geographically sensible and a great passion for football.

I also like Navy, but I understand that I am in the minority. But what if Navy was the only way to get Notre Dame? I'd take that deal. Navy is obviously prestigious...gets us the DC market probably better than Maryland ever did...gets us a national "brand" and a national game against Army...and if it got us Notre Dame, it would be a win.

I'd agree that there is no need for a Florida team...I certainly have no interest in Memphis...very little interest in Cincy except maybe to get a tiny slice of Ohio and see if they can become a thorn in Ohio State's side. UConn has great tradition in basketball (men's and women's) and perhaps would be a good market and could invest in their football.

And then again...yes...an ultimatum with Notre Dame would be great. The problem with that is, if the football playoff goes to 12, they would probably just leave. I'd imagine they would happily stay independent in football and scrounge for a schedule in all other sports every year...and make the playoff...than join a conference. But...at some point you have to make a call.

Jul 22, 2021, 10:03 AM [ in reply to I certainly don't get a vote, but if I did... ]

I personally rather have Navy. I rather have academics and honor and middle-road athletics than illiterate couch-burners with middle-road athletics. *cough* *WVU* because we already have NC State

Use the SEC model, add teams to the bottom of the conference that act like fodder for the powers. Navy fits. Fits with historical rivalries like UVA, Pitt, and ND .. and are better than the coots

Yep. Navy/Memphis or Cincy would make more sense than a directional school in Florida. You would be bringing Maryland/Tennessee or Ohio and additional TV markets into the fold.

UCF, USF, and WVa would weaken an already weak conference. No matter how large the school is. You have to add traditional blue bloods like Texas and OKlahoma.

Well Clemson could jump ship and become and independent school in football.
1. Alabama
2. Ohio state
3. Georgia
4. Notre Dame
5. Oklahoma
6. Texas A&m
7. Oregon
8. USC-Not the chickens
9. Wisconsin
10.Iowa State
11. could either be Texas or Cincinnati
12. could be the second best team in South Carolina- Coastal Carolina.

Team 1-3 would never change
4-11- would change every season as we get the updated rankings
12- would remain the same- at least for 6 years- unless they do better than the dirt peckers.
