Ceiling for Hunter Tyson

Hey Guys, My first post. I am a longtime Syracuse fan and an ACC fan since the Orange joined the conference. What do you think the ceiling for Hunter Tyson is? I understand that Simm's production is going to be replaced by committee. Can Hunter increase his production with Bohannon in the mix? Is 15 ppg a possibility? Thanks.

Thanks for stopping by and being respectful. I don't think his ceiling is very high -- he has some talent and some hard work, but he's not a "difference maker". He's a really good role player -- really good. Unfortunately Clemson will always be an almost good team. We'll have a year here and there where we overachieve, but we're an average ACC team. Having said that, I think we play the right way and don't cheat, but I could be wrong. Under those circumstances, being slightly above average is about as good as you can get. I wish we could turn the corner, but don't really think we will, and I've been rooting since 1986.

I think he could be a double figure scorer art around 10 ppg but that is the ceiling. He plays hard and has some sneaky athleticism. think the combination of Tyson and Bohannon could average together about 15 to 16 pts per game. PJ Hall will be the real difference maker inside.

Another player to keep up with regarding inside Tigers is freshman Ian Schiffelin. He had a good game in the exhibition game with 13 pts . Has been a big surprise in the preseason and early practices. Might have gotten a hidden gym in the recruiting ranks.

Thanks. I read this somewhere recently. It looks like he had a nice finish last year, against ACC competition.
"Tyson has scored 16 points in back-to-back games, and he has scored in double digits in three of his last four appearances. He has been starting regularly since Jan. 27 and should remain a reliable scoring threat for Clemson if they end up earning a Tournament invite".

We’ll see. He could slim down and be a 3/4 hybrid, match up problem, or he could be an under-sized stretch 4 with little impact.

Thanks for stopping by!
I think Hunter's ceiling is probably like 10 ppg/5 rebs. I just don't see him being consistently productive enough to do any better than that. He is a very capable shooter, and he's better off the bounce than people give him credit for, but I just haven't seen enough alpha dog in him to be the kind of person to just take over a game with any regularity. I would be more than happy to be wrong though!

Y'all are underestimating Tyson! He was doing very well mid

season, until he had to miss several games with the concussion. If he stays healthy, I can see him averaging 12-13 pts and 5 rebounds. He needs to hit 2 or 3 three-pointers per game.

I'll be interested to see how he does this year when hopefully he doesn't have to have his skull held together with velcro and electrician's tape half the season.

Thanks for your post.
I think Tyson can be a double figure scorer. He had some excellent games last year. He can clearly shoot from the perimeter, but can also put it on the floor and take it to the basket.
His versatility will allow him to step up his game now that Simms has graduated. His veteran leadership will be important as well. I think he is capable of scoring 15 points per game, but we will be playing 10-11 players a game so I'm not sure that he will consistently get opportunities to do that.
I expect that we will see different players lead us in scoring. One night it might be Tyson, but another night it might be Dawes, Honor, Hemenway, or Hall.
This should be an exciting offense to watch.
Here's to our lack of size and depth down low not hurting us too much on the defensive end.

I think Hemenway, Dawes and Honor will be the top scorers, maybe even in that order.

Hall will be in that group. He might average about 13 pts a game if he stays out of foul trouble a lot.
