CBB is going to be hard to get rid of....

Mar 9, 2016, 10:46 PM

For a coach has been a modest but hardly overwhelming success during his four-year tenure, Brad Brownell sure seems to have the support of his administration.

Clemson rewarded Brownell for making the NIT semifinals this past season with a six-year contract that reportedly pays him $1.55 million next season and escalates to $2 million by the end of the deal.

What's even more significant than Brownell's salary is the hefty buyout figure in his new contract. According to Rivals affiliate Tigers Illustrated, Clemson would pay Brownell $5 million if it fired him now, $3.5 million if it fired him with three years left on his deal and $3 million if it fired him during the contract's final two years.

Such an unwieldy buyout figure essentially binds Clemson to Brownell for the majority of that six-year deal. Things would have to go terribly wrong for the Tigers to either pony up the cash necessary to oust Brownell or find a group of donors willing to fund his departure themselves.

18 points lead with 8 minutes left....terribly wrong and so is this contract for a mid major, unproven coach three years into the revamped ACC. Go figure.

Oh well, no Clemson basketball for a long time. Who are the idiots that put him in a position to where he can't be fired. They need to worry about their jobs. Modest success? He's had no success here.

I honestly think he isn't as bad as some of you make it out to be

With the players he's been working with, our record is about what it should be. I don't know why everyone puts the blame on the coaches in every single game. Imo, yes sometimes its the coaches fault but its also sometimes the players just not doing what they're supposed to be doing.

Most decent coaches can win a game with 18 point lead

Mar 9, 2016, 11:15 PM

and 8 minutes left in the game. If the players are not doing what pull them out and put in the next. Drive every play and make the refs make a call. DO SOMETHING!!!!!

I would reword your post and state

Most players/teams can hold onto to an 18 point lead with 8 minutes to play. Not a Brownell pumper or dumper but he didn't give up that lead.

Redo of the last time we played. We arent the most talented team and our guys have pretty low hoops iq at times. The only real lead we seemed to hold was BC and that is a tribute to how awful they are morethan to our ability

the problem is the last 7 min. or so... GT changed the way

Mar 9, 2016, 11:41 PM [ in reply to I would reword your post and state ]

they played and we did not...

we could not defend the ball screen the last 7 min, and we couldn't stop them from going to the rim off the bounce. ...

I would have liked to see a little more zone once they got it down to about 10 points

You say our players are crap. That's bull. But even if it's true...
1. You're blaming a kid. A kid who chose to rep our school and works hard every day.
2. WHO IS IN CHARGE OF DECIDING WHO GETS A SCHOLARSHIP? So BB gets a pass on having bad players even though he hand picked every single kid on the roster??

And spare us this garbage about it being impossible to recruit kids here. Purnell did it. He didn't need these dumb excuses. He just went out and got good kids and won 20+ games a year.
