here’s a few i had in a 12x12 bin whilst cleaning the rest.
had some that were over a lb.

I’ve been spoiling the family with reds, specks, and flounder fillets for so long they forgot what it was like to pick their teeth with fish bones

As my Dad would say, nothing better than a mess of bream. Over a pound that’s impressive!

My best bream story. When my brother and dad owned a tackle store we could go out and catch bluegill when they were bedding and bring home a mess big enough for a Wednesday night church supper.

But, the best trip was one year we found them bedding. Caught 30 or so. The next week went back there and caught over 60 in about an hour. (2 of us fishing. Live crickets for bait. Both fishing with light spinning rods. He was wading; I was in the pontoon boat.)

Got to the tackle store. Thought sure we had a few that were over a pound. Weighed all the big ones, and then weighed some of the smallest ones.

Smallest one was 13 oz. Largest one was 15 oz. Fileted them all and had a fish fry for the regular customers a couple of days later.

Nice! So that's the catch part of your username

Run and jump must have something to do with how you catch them lol.

I grew up in Central near Lake Hartwell. My 2 younger bros and I would fish off the shore for bream, crappie, and perch. We'd fish for an hour or so and have contests to see who would catch the most. Good times. Out at the Twin Lakes part of Lake Hartwell, there were a lot of bream beds along the shore. We usually threw them back since Hartwell had a PCB contamination issue back in the day.

?Does anyone here still use Catalpa worms for fishing?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ngl, had to google that

So a catalpa worm is basically a caterpillar that turns into a moth. I've never used them for fishing, but thanks for the impromptu lesson. Learn something new everyday.

You take a stick and turn'em inside out before putting them

Used them as a kid. Never turned inside out.

Haven’t used in ages, but still see the trees around every once in a while. I always asked the owner if the tree gets the worms. Most of them say No.
