Enny you peeps collect coins?

I do by default (inherited about 50 Morgan dollars along with a ton of others). Unfortunately thay are not professionally or officially graded. Seems it would cost more to have them graded than what they may be worth.
Any ideas? I would like to sell some just to thin them out but have no idea what to charge.
Side note: I got a 1939 penny in change today. I bet it's worth at least 1 cent.

Then I spend some of them. Then I try to collect some more. It's a vicious circle I tell you.

Have my great uncle's coin collection

He was a big collector. Have a 1850 gold $5 coin, or maybe it was $10, not sure. It's tiny. Then a ton of Morgan and Liberty silver dollars, most stuff from late 1800's and early 1900's. He even has a roman coin in there that's pretty neat.
Great uncle had his graded, but he did it himself. Pretty much still the same today. Read up on it and give an honest appraisal for each coin, then go to a pawn shop and get maybe 50% of that value.
Remember silver is around $22 an ounce.

Go to a coin show and you can probably find a vendor

or 3 that will do an informal appraisal for free then bid them against each other.
Here’s the biggie - the Broadmoor is very nice but I think Greenville, Charlotte, and Columbia still have shows

A coinshow may be your best bet. If you are looking to unload the collection, I would also suggest ebay or a dedicated coin trading site. You would likely make a better return there than via a pawn shop.

I got a shoebox full of coins stored somewhere

I haven't looked in it in many years. Mostly stuff from childhood. Had a granddad that liked to give his grandkids silver dollars, so have several of those real silver ones. Also had a metal detector as a teenager and found a bunch of old coins in churchyards, schoolyards, etc. Stuff that dates back into the 1800's. Every kind of nickel, dime, penny, etc you can think of just about.
Not sure what it all would be worth. I used to buy those coin magazines every couple years or so when I saw them in the store, but not sure they even print them anymore.
If I were you, I'd go to Ebay or some coin website to kind of "pricerange" what you have first. THEN maybe go to a coin dealer or swap meet or something.

I kid. I got a few in the safe but like you I've never had them graded.

In-laws gave us a "collectors set" of Kennedy dollars

as part of our Christmas gift. FiL is a Chicken Little, "when the economy collapses, you'll need something tangible" guy who's always buying us silver as gifts (don't get me wrong, I appreciate it, but not in the world-is-ending fashion he does).
Came in a fancy wood box. Not sure what I'll do with it.
Aside from that, I only have a handful of "meaningful" pennies set aside. 1976 - my birth year 1978 - the wife's birth year 2007 and 2010 - our kids' birth years.
And I have a stack of dollar coins. Because that's tooth fairy money in our house. I hope I'm done with that #### soon, if not already.

Samesies. APM inherited a "coin collection" from his grandid

Really the only coin that has inherent value as a coin is a $5 gold piece.
Otherwise, nothing really remarkable but a LOT of silver. I mean a lot.
Anyhow, we have valued it out of boredom a few times and it's not like it's worth a fortune. I mean, a few thousand, but not millions.
so we have discussed selling some of it, but for whatever reason doing so seems like it would cheapen the memory of my grandiddy. It wouldn't of course, but from a sentimental standpoint, it just seems like the object itself and what it meant to him to give it to me is worth more than the cash we could get for it.

I wouldn't say collect. I put change in a shoebox and go through it when the sides start to split to check for old coins. Been doing that a while now and have a few old coins scattered about in drawers.
I've collected a few pool ques over the years which I value more than the coins.
