Can't wait to hear The Chad talk about how our QB's don't...

...know anything about being under center (even a 5 year vet). I'm sure the spin will be good. Get popcorn.

to admit his mistakes. Dabo admitted that they were out coached today and the players were the ones who won the game. Hopefully Chad can do the same.

Still some of the blame has to fall on Stoudt. It's not like he hasn't played in e very game. The 2nd half boneheaded play cost us 3 and a shot at 7. Also, Stoudt is staring down his attended receiver on every player.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You could say that Stoudt was playing w/ injured shoulder.

That happens a lot with back up qb's. I am not defending Stoudt, but the back ups do not get the reps for their timing to be great. They have to look at the receivers more than the starting Q.B.
Louisville had a good defense. Our offense was indeed bad, but Louisville deserves a lot of credit as well. Maybe their D is everything it was hyped to be.

I hope so. The sign of great leaders is being willing to admit their failures. I have never seen much of that with Morris.

Hopefully,
Every time I say this, I get thumbs down, but I will say it again. FOR WHAT WE PAY CHAD, WE COULD HIRE A LOT BETTER OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR THAN HIM!

You have to understand that there's a very large contingency

Oct 11, 2014, 9:04 PM [ in reply to You know Beatrice, I woulda been worried bout this game.. ]

of poster here on Tnet who believe that the fact that our coaches have been doing this for several years and making a very successful living along with those that also actually played college football does not compare to the level of expertise that many of the armchair coaches have gained through years of watching games—not analyzing film and breaking it down or anything—but simply watching the games.

It's understandable to question a play call from time to time, most notably some of the shotgun runs in short yardage. However, it's a completely different thing to call out Chad Morris after literally every game because we don't score a TD on every single possession. It's also a heck of a lot easier to question a playcall in hindsight after knowing the outcome.

There are many times when certain plays don't succeed due to lack of execution by the players. Other times it's often a result of the opposing DC being in the right defense for the play. But beyond questioning a call here and there, it is completely ridiculous to continually out Morris despite all the success he has brought to our offense following the many years of middle of the road success from Rob Spence and Billy Napier.

With the exception of a select few of you, I don't remember all the uproar over the playcalling, even in short yardage shotgun snaps because Tajh Boyd became very good at picking up short yardage from the shotgun in QB power runs that were often delayed while a guard pulled or Boyd was reading the blockers. Hindsight is 20/20.

Criticize a play here and there and that's perfectly understandable. Calling for Morris to be fired and wanting to run him out of town is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard on this board, and that speaks volumes.

Until you guys have some experience coaching college football and begin breaking down opponents film and reviewing game tape in addition to being familiar with all of the specific assignments of every player on all of the plays, then the overwhelming majority of you lack the knowledge or expertise to criticize the playcalling to the extent that has been rampant on here all year.

Re: You have to understand that there's a very large contingency

Oct 11, 2014, 9:10 PM

I have no experience coaching and I am female.....but I do know that the shotgun on short yardage of inches, that you do not have the QB in shotgun. And that has happened several times this year.

Yeah, Boyd was in that situation at times, but he was known as a tough runner. He had proved that

Re: You have to understand that there's a very large contingency

Oct 11, 2014, 9:21 PM

And that is exactly why I don't fault anyone for questioning the shotgun runs on short yardage 3rd and 4th downs, especially after it has been proven to be ineffective with our current personnel. I also disagreed with the shotgun snaps both at the end of each half when we were sniffing the goal line and on the 4th down play.

It's the people going beyond that to criticizing seemingly half of the play calls and hoping for Morris to be replaced that I don't understand. I'm curious exactly what kind of offense it is that they want and who they want to hire to run it.

Oct 11, 2014, 10:16 PM [ in reply to You have to understand that there's a very large contingency ]

It doesn't take a coach to what we are doing in short yardage situations doesn't work and lacks common since. We should not have the qb 5 yards back when we need less than a yard, especially with more than one chance to get it. An if they insist on the shotgun then snap it to a guy who can run, like maybe one of our 6 running backs. It would be like a ball coach electing his worst free throw shooter to shoot a technical.

corn: I'm not faulting the play caLling as I am the offense and defense sets that we get in when the game is on the line! big difference AND THEY do not learn from their mistakes. Sorry but that is reality

Oh, me too. They're so freaking stupid. Also, Dabo going for it on 4th down in a defensive game then Chad using a play with the shotgun.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are some of you REALLY ridiculing Chad Morris?

Oct 11, 2014, 8:59 PM

We've been a solid 3rd and 4th down team for all of Chads tenure and more importantly the last 3.5 seasons have been the most successful (non-probation) run in history. You reckon Chad Morris has anything to do with that? Do you think the 3rd and 4th down conversions over that time have been part of that success? Look, no doubt we're having some trouble with OL cohesion and push right now, and you need to give UL some credit too, but even today, do you think we win that game without Morris calling plays? I mean really, try to see the forest through the trees.

We scored twice against FSU from 2 yards in, from the

shotgun.

You can fumble a snap from under center just as easily as you can have a bad snap in the shotgun, AND you can fail from 4th and short just as easily from under center as you can from the gun, especially when the opposing noseguard is blowing up your center.

And even if you were right, you're clearly missing the big picture. Winning...we've been better at it than most anytime in Clemson history. We didn't lose today because of the shotgun and we didn't lose to FSU because of the shotgun. Got any more?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IN the last 5 minutes

Oct 11, 2014, 9:26 PM [ in reply to ^^^ Thinks shotgun on 3rd and inches is da bomb ^^^ ]

both Bama and Arky have failed on 4th and a half yard while under center ? To hear some of you that complain all the time about the shotgun in these type of situations, going under the center would be automatic, seems it's not. LOL
