Tonight I attended a benefit for a great man who is battling cancer. The whole town came out to support it. Great music, great food. All around awesome night. The greatest part of it all was during the live auction portion. Really nice Clemson prints, autographed SI's, tons of Dabo signed stuff. It all went for thousands. Litearly thousands.... Then, a full season of VIP parking passes to Coot U comes up for bid. Now, this is not a Clemson only crowd. There is a mixed bag of 500+ people there. They started the bid at $500...silence...$300...nothing... $100...it almost became awkward at this point. And if I'm lying, I'm dying. There was not one single bid on an entire season of parking at the midlands school. Not just parking, I'm talking about 5 steps from Willy B. I would have bid on it, just for the Clemson game. However, they had that single game pass in the silent auction. It brought $250 by itself. And that my friends is the gap that exists in the Palmetto state
That is amazing! Glad that the Clemson memorabilia brought in some good $ for your friend. Seems like there would have been 1 or 2 gamecocks there to bid on parking pass. Perhaps they were just too embarrassed to actually make a bid. Bless their hearts!
