All you impeachers....think about this...

Jan 9, 2021, 12:28 PM

The one thing Democrats fail to recognize: the President Trump never called for violence. He simply urged his supporters to march towards the Capitol, something that's common place in Washington, D.C.

what is the point anyway. He's almost out the door. This is just revenge and vitriol driven. I have reached the point where I think both parties are equally bad and inept. We deserve much better on each side of the aisle than we get. Yet each year with more scrutiny it gets worse and worse. I used to joke we are becoming a third world country. Recent events seem to confirm we are there

Are there really no Republicans that think Trump stepped waay over the line this week (& the previous 2 months).

This is NOT an Dem vs Rep thing. This is a democracy vs authoritarian thing. This is a reality vs fantasy thing.

Re: I'm all for impeachment.

Jan 9, 2021, 10:54 PM [ in reply to Re: I'm all for impeachment. ]

Yeah because if the shoe was on the other foot, the trumpsters would be pushing for peace and healing. Just ike that peacful protest at the Capitol. I mean that's what they have been seeking for the last 4 years. Kumbaya. Trump is renowned for his desire to bring the country together.

It's really disappointing how those who have enabled Trump continue to do so. It's always party over country. Completely unable to see the monster they created and the damage he is capable of.

And I agree this is not even a Democrat vs. Republican thing. It a democratic vs. dictator thing.

T3,

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You need to watch Trumps speech from the Capital.

Jan 9, 2021, 3:20 PM [ in reply to Re: You don't think his ranting since November 3rd and on Jan 6 ]

He had spent weeks pushing for his people to "fight" on 1/6. He again told them to fight during his 1/6 speech. He had his people running through the Capital looking for Pelosi and Pence. His gang also killed a Capital City Policeman.

The irony is that Trump told the crowd to go with him to the Capital. Well, they went, but Trump did not. Why? He knew it was going to be bad. He watched the attack on the Capital from the White House. The White House staff has reported that the President was enjoying watching the attack, and he could not understand why his staff did not want to watch.

He is the most dangerous President in US history, and history will remember him for that. The other guilty parties are the far right media outlets that pushed Trump's message. It has been proven in over 60 court cases that fraud was not the reason for Trump losing the election. It was Trump's rhetoric that scared over $81 million voters to vote against him.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, that's not what stirred the people up.

Jan 9, 2021, 3:48 PM [ in reply to You don't think his ranting since November 3rd and on Jan 6 ]

The hearings in GA, AZ, MI and other states which presented evidence that of election/voter fraud is what stirred people up. I believe the polls which say that 67% of pubs. 20-30% of dems and a significant number of independents believe that the election was stolen.

The AJC had an article which reported that of all the pubs they spoke to about the election not one of them thought it was fair. In order for us to communicate you have to wrap your head around that. Perhaps putting yourself in their frame of mind might be a start. That's called objectivity. That's all I ask.

When over 50 million people think their votes are being negated by cheating we have a problem. Please don't turn inward and say 'That didn't happen.' We're not talking now about what you believe, we're trying to understand how those who think differently than you believe.

Imo, having a crowd of that magnitude carrying the attitude that their vote was stolen yet only 50-100 acted out says something about the rest of us. I agree with them. Had I been younger and stronger I might have gone to DC. I don't believe anyone could have enticed me to enter the building without permission but I would have been right at the door.

I don't believe the left wants healing. I believe they would be happy to see those who disagree with them die. Some here verified that when they said poked fun at the lady who was shot and died.

Me? IDGAcarp, this ain't my world, I'm just passing through and passing time until my day.

Got to give the Democrats credit though, pretty impressive how they got the Republican governors, legislatures, and secretaries of state in Georgia and Arizona to steal the election for them.

Amazing how a lie repeated enough becomes truth to the gullible.

It is the job of the plaintiff to gather the evidence - not the courts. The courts require evidence of a crime (or action) before they begin proceedings. It is not the courts job to respond to every speculation or suspicion. Its the rule of law. That is how courts work - for everyone.

The Dems saw a fairly won election. They weren't trying to HIDE something. They just did not feel obligated to go through a big public circus to prove what they felt was already evident. Again, it is not the defenses job to help the plaintiff - especially when their complaints are groundless.

The call to violence was effectively implied

Jan 9, 2021, 1:37 PM

It was inflammatory rhetoric at best moments before during the rally, if you watched it live in Fox which I did. Go find the video, it’s there. I don’t know how you could watch the rally and come away with any other conclusion.

The speakers were Trump, Giuliani, And Jr. Their messages to incite violence were “Fight like ####” and “Trial by combat”.

Trump and his accomplices had them whipped a lather for over two months. He invited to be there solely to intimidate Congress. He could have reigned them back in, but he didn’t. He effectively put them in the position to act like crazed unhinged lunatics.

It was bad enough what happened, but what would you be saying if we had a hostage situation, a burned down Capitol building, Marshall Law, etc? Or is your excuse that these fools wouldn’t have gone that far.

Consider it a safety net at this point in time. The fact that it is gaining bi-partisan support should help explain some of the reasoning behind it.

over corrupt Biden. It was Anfifa who infiltrated and stormed the Capital. There were media cameras, so it was all staged. Fake news. Most people were there didn't enter the Capitol. It really had nothing to do with Trump. Those weren't "his people". Not to mention democrats had riots too. They burned a Wendy's in Atlanta, and broke a bunch of stuff, and even burned a police station somewhere. Which makes it ok, evidently to storn the Capitol.

to be impeached and removed. A “high crime or misdemeanor” in this case could be incitement of insurrection. That’s a much lower bar. They will probably also include charges that he initially refused to deploy the national guard, and Pence stepped in. That dereliction of duty would be more difficult to prove, unless Pence testified against Trump.

Yep, TheRump is a good conman. He always gives himself some room for verbal deniability. But check the tone of his speech and his telling the crowd not to be weak. Then review the "fighting calls" of Guliani and Don, Jr.

Clearly, TheRump wanted the cultists to interrupt the Congressional certification of the elections, although there was no basis to do so. (Except TheRump knows he will be jailed soon for major financial and tax crimes.)

Y'all cultists of TheRump don't seem to understand -- TheRump (a wanna-be Putin) is planning for a much bigger insurrection on January 20th, with much more fire power. A lot more than 5 people will die. Perhaps Biden. Unless the FBI can defuse the plan.

Last I heard, on Jan 6th, they only found 11 pipe bombs, a few AR-15s, and a car rigged and charged with explosives. Of course, most of the insurgents walked away with their weapons because the white supremacists (supporters of TheRump) within the Capitol Police didn't want to interfere -- the full extent of weapons and bullets was surely much greater than the found weapons.

And I have seen the videos of the chants "Where's Pence; hang Pence." And the FBI has the social media threats to kidnap and kill Pelosi and to hang Pence at the Capitol.

Yep, it was a very peaceful rally; only 5 people died; not many if they weren't related to you.

But, only 5 died because the congress people were removed to secure locations, just in time. Most were extremely scared, including Lippy Graham. TheRump prevented the National Guard from providing the reinforcements that could have stopped the break-in, despite frantic calls from the DC Police that came to help.

And, again, in his mind, TheRump is not done. (He may be asking Putin to help in his coup.) But he will try to stage a major insurrection in the streets of DC and then declare Martial Law, so he can stay in office for an indeterminant time. TheRump is stupid and doesn't realize that no significant portions of the military will back his plan.

On January 6th, TheRump was trying to overthrow the normal, legal function of Congress, with no basis for doing so. And you say "no harm -- no foul?" Sad. Tell the 5 families of the dead and the 56 injured police.

The GOP cabinet does not have enough backbone to remove TheRump with the 25th amendment, although he is clearly insane.
Immediate removal action is needed now, and impeaching him will occur too late; but it will keep him from ever holding public office again in the US, and that must be done.

There is a very good chance there will be 67 senators that will vote to impeach after Biden is in office. Especially after the likely Jan 20 th fireworks.
